Mark, The app is a great start. Alchemy50 is working through the crashing issues. You are correct, once you hit approx 60 days of clips in a timeline it will crash on devices with less than 1GB of RAM (ie. iPhone 4s and under). Give them time to work through the issues, developing an application is a process that takes time and often times involves some stumbling. Things get more difficult when you factor in Apples release timeframe.
A workaround I have been using... Import all videos to an iPad using the Camera Connection Kit and compile them in 1SE on the iPad. I have been making a timeline of our son's growth and this allows me the freedom to include days that I missed while traveling. In addition, I have used a SD card to transfer videos into the iPad from my video library on the computer. Please note that you will need a 4th gen iPad to avoid the aforementioned memory issue.
