About this project
This Spartan Life is making a new episode and we'd like the marvelous Kickstarter community to be part of it. Being an independent media company means always having to be creative with raising funds and Kickstarter is about as creative a fundraising tool as we've seen.
This Spartan Life is the "talk show in game space." An award-winning machinima video series shot in the unpredictable multi-player Halo 3 gaming universe. We invite people into a live game and interview them with the bullets flying and the gamers fragging. You can check out our most recent episode here:

We are offering some interesting and fun premiums, but we are most excited about the "Get a Virtual Dream Date with Amber" premium. The beautiful but deadly Amber, is one of the Solid Gold Elite Dancers and has agreed to go on a virtual date in Halo 3 on Xbox Live, with anyone who pledges $200 or more. You will need access to Xbox Live and a copy of the game Halo 3.
And if you can't afford a date with Amber at $200, you still have a chance- $25 and up gets you a spot in the monthly raffle for a virtual dream date.
But maybe Amber is too much for you and you'd prefer a more relaxed date. Well then, Fyb3roptik, MC Aero and Damian are all ready and willing to sweep you off to their multi-player Casbah and show you the most romantic spots. The funds raised will pay for badly needed new equipment, software updates for editing and modest salaries to allow our team to take time off from work to continue to make this very creative but not financially rewarding series.
We are also taking advantage of this opportunity to donate any unused funds raised in this effort to the Get-Well Gamers Foundation (www.getwellgamers.org)
The Get-Well Gamers was founded in 2001 with the goal of bringing video game systems and games to children's hospitals. Video games are an effective and proven pain management tool and provide needed entertainment during long hospital stays.

Chris Burke graduated from NYU Film School and went on to work on-set with directors such Robert Altman and Lucio Fulci. Working as a composer, he has scored six independent feature films and had three CDs and several digital releases of original music. In the 1990s, Chris started Bong + Dern, Inc., creating interactive audio projects for Bjork, MTV and others. In late 2004 Chris created This Spartan Life. A talk show in “game space”, This Spartan Life uses Xbox Live and the videogame Halo as its backdrop and has been lauded for its brilliant combination of traditional filmmaking with the creative, interactive possibilities of videogame technology. Guests have included Malcolm McLaren, McKenzie Wark, game designer Katie Salen, the rock band OK Go, Studio 360's Kurt Andersen and many others. This Spartan Life has attracted the attention of countless mainstream media outlets, including Wired Magazine, who likened it to "a mash-up of The Charlie Rose Show and Doom," The BBC, Reuters, Stuff Magazine, and BusinessWeek, and won Best Machinima Series at the 2005 and 2008 Machinima Festivals. This Spartan Life has also created exclusive online content for Spike TV’s Videogame Awards, and as well as a spin-off series for Halo Waypoint on XBox Live.
