I love writing and I love photography, and I want to make a project that incorporates the two together. I want to make a book that uses both photography and short stories to tell a broader story. In my book, the stories will be inspired by the photographs or the photographs will be inspired by the story. I plan to have a collection of short stories, some of which are already written, to go with photographs, some of which are already taken. I think the project would be an interesting way to show how stories are told both visually and through words. The final product will be available in hardcover and ebook format, and your money will help me publish and creatively construct these photographic and written stories.

The beginning of one of my stories: 

  “What’re you writing?”

      “A story.”

      “About what?”

      “Relationships.”

      “Can I read?”

      “It’s not done! What are you writing?”

       “A story…about an expedition to another planet in which aliens are discovered. Chaos ensues.”

       Jordan and Kate sit side by side. Jordan writes about aliens and Kate writes about relationships and it would be nice if this were always their life together. 

      There is a guy, and he knows a girl. They’ve known each other since elementary school, gone to the same high school, and started dating in college, and life seems pretty good. Or content, at least. And the guy thinks that they can get married and life will be great. But the girl thinks she’s been missing something, because she’s never gotten away from her life, never gone exploring, and she’s a bit scared to lose whatever opportunity she had. But the guy, he’s too scared to try anything new. So the girl leaves one day to go travel, to get experiences she would never get at home. All he has is her phone number, which probably won’t work when she ends up in other countries, which she does, and her internet contact information, assuming she’ll find a computer. So he waits, and hears nothing from her until a month later when she tells him where she is, and that she’s really happy, traveling. But he loves her and decides to go after her, even if it means getting away from his comfortable life. He tries to find her.

     Kate’s agent thinks this story about a guy and a girl and some travel might work, so Kate gets to work writing it.

     Later when she agonizes over how to start the novel, how to write it in a way that works, Jordan is there to comfort her and tell her that she will succeed. He hands her a mug of vanilla flavored coffee, squeezes her shoulder, and then returns to his own work. They work side by side, each lost in a new unfolding story.
