Update #11: WEBSITE LAUNCHED AT LAST!!!
Hi Backers,
Guess what? The website is FINALLY done! You know what this means, right? It means that soon catewhite.com stickers will begin appearing on the signs of panhandlers all over San Francisco, Berkeley, Oakland, and maybe beyond if I can get that far. This is the fun part, right? Go check it out at www.catewhite.com.
(I wish it were easier to browse the work for sale. You have to click through a few too many windows for my taste, but it seemed there was no way around it with the plug-in we were using.) What do you all think?
Update #10: Your info
Update #9: Bring on the Ides of March!
Update #8: How it works
Hi Backers,
I hope you are enjoying the updates. Some of you have asked about when you will receive your schwag. Here's how it works. IF (and only if) I reach my $2000 goal by March 15th, will your pledges be deducted from your bank accounts. After that you can expect an email from me requesting mailing info, link info, and whatever info I need to send you your rewards. We've got less than two weeks to go. There have been a few stragglers over the last couple of weeks to keep hope alive. Remember, if I don't reach the $2000 goal, your pledges will not be deducted from your account and I won't get anything. So, again, if you know of anyone else who might want to donate, please do send them the link, which can be copied right under the video on my main page. Thanks everybody!

Dear Cate, I think your idea is brilliant and amazing. I donated and sent the email about the project, and the video, to all my lists. I hope you succeed!!

Update #6: Jesus was homeless, right?
Hi Backers,
No new videos for you I'm sorry to say. I haven't been out in the field much lately. You know, it can be painful to connect with people who are in a less fortunate situation than yourself. There's this immediate inequality that is never fully forgotten over the course of a conversation. Actually, no, I'm wrong. The inequality IS forgotten for moments. Usually when you make each other laugh. I wonder if Jesus was funny. I wonder how Jesus did it, though. He hung out with the down & out almost exclusively. His gf was a hooker for Christs sake! I find that when I'm spending a lot of time with people whose lives are in chaos, I start to feel more chaotic and out of control than usual. I think that in order to meet people where they are, to authentically relate, you need to inhabit their vibe. Inhabiting the vibe of a drug addict makes you feel a little f'd up, you know? I guess Jesus was a bit more enlightened than I am. I'm still in the co-dependent phase of my spiritual evolution. I'm trying to make the other person feel good so I can feel good. Jesus just felt good cuz he had the holy spirit running through his body, so he just made people feel good without even trying. So, here's the question: how do I get the holy spirit running through my body? I make art. That really helps. I swear to God when this part of the project is over, I'm gonna be so relieved to be back in the studio doing my prayers so that I can go out fresh and spread the word. Word.

Jesus was not less fortunate, that's for sure. He had his strength, wisdom and perseverance to throw like a blanket onto others who were cold, hungry and suffering from faith deprivation. Yes, it's a good thing to ask one's self, what would jesus do? (oops I forgot to capitalize his name)

I, Cate White, have been quietly going about my business as an adult, first living in a hermit shack in the woods for 10 years of controlled madness, filling notebooks with messy and questionable writing, then churning out obsessive and anguished (in a funny way) 'zines from a freezing cold warehouse in San Francisco, and now living in the 'hood in Oakland, making drawings and paintings and a few friends.
congratulations, bag face! the site looks great & is so true to you.
