Update #19: Interesting Interview

Posted on January 28
Hi Everybody,

On a separate note, we get asked about our experience on Kickstarter a lot. Many have contacted us though Kickstarter asking us for tips and advice.  If you’re thinking about doing a Kickstarter yourself, our friend Brian Kwong has already done a lot of the research to shortcut this process and launched his Kickstarter where he learns from the best of the best. He interviews Kickstarters of the top most funded projects for Product Design, Photography, Music, Publishing, and Fashion to find out what it takes to be successful.

Right after we returned from our trip to CES in Vegas, we did a video interview to help him launch his project.  In the video we share about our experience with our Kickstarter project.  If you are interested in starting your own project or simply interested in more of the back story behind what we have created, please check it out:

      I'm super disappointed ...
      a month - ok .. two months .. sure ..
but now .. this is ridiculous .. you do all these interviews and whatnot but I feel like you started this project as a hobby and 'let's see what can happen'

besides the point that you're simply super far of what you announced, you're making it hard for backers of your product to trust new kickstarter projects unless they're created by established kickstarters .. not good :(

Valid points, I'm tired of waiting, too... but I'm sure he's tired of working! Anyone that invests in a company needs to have patience. This product is a highly technical product that required probably twice the amount of development time due to the nature of the materials. All products go through this type of process, we just never get to watch it. We watch TV shows about How things are made, and its a ten minute segment of a process that took years to hone. The iPhone4 isn't going anywhere soon, and the iPhone5 will be an easy adjustment and a much quicker process. I feel that we'll all have our iPhone4 cases by the time for some summer fun... in the meantime, I'll keep breaking otterboxes!

working in product development myself I can say the simple looking products are normally even more challenging to do. Keep up the good work, we're here to help you launch!

ANGEL SUPPORTER: We think you are a pretty special human being and we love you! Your generous support will have a big impact on our ability to launch the EscapeCapsule. In return, we are going to give you an iPhone 4 32G unlocked and 10 EscapeCapsules in your choice of colors. On that note, we want you to be involved in picking the color of the next EscapeCapsule, which we will send you when available. And furthermore, we felt it would be fun to talk about colors after a brief tour of the factory, so we are going to include a trip to Hong Kong so you get to see where the product is made. We will fly you from LAX to HKG and put you up in a hotel for 7D/6N. While in Hong Kong, we will take you out for a beach BBQ and a night out on the town for dinner and drinks. Also, there are a few hidden beaches, waterfalls and epic rock climbing spots that we would love to share with you. Sound fun? Of course, it's the ultimate escape!
