Update #20: Quick Update
Hi Team,
Just a quick note, we have been super busy in the past two weeks since our last update. We are on track and moving forward at a rapid pace. Everything is on schedule from update #18. We will have new fully assembled samples of the EscapeCapsule next week. Right now, the factory is finalizing and fine tuning a few minute tool fitting adjustments on all parts. As soon as we have samples, we will post our next update. We will be putting the next samples through a lot of testing. We are really excited.
If all goes well in the next T3 samples, we will order the raw materials and have our official Pilot run very soon after that. We are also working closely with the engineers to set up the assembly processes for the pilot run. What that means is that we are creating the most efficient and consistent method for assembling each of the membranes for the touchscreen and sound ports so that this can be done consistently on hundreds of finished products. Production is right around the corner. The official production of the product will require a substantial order of materials pre-colored from each of the suppliers. We are working to organize and streamline this now. We are also engineering a testing station so that each EscapeCapsule is tested to make sure it is waterproof before we ship each unit out. Stay tuned. :-)
In addition to all of the design, engineering and production work that is being done, there is also a tremendous amount of work that is being done on the daily operation of the company. Right now, we are also sorting out how we will fulfill and ship out everyone's rewards for backing the project since there are a lot of you! If you've moved or changed address, please send us an email at info@catalystlifestyle.com to let us know. There are so many details to take into account on how best to get this product out to each and every person in all of the countries that our backers are from. Our list of supporters is long and we appreciate each and every one of you.
As always, we sincerely appreciate your support. The journey continues. ;-)
Love,
Josh & June
Update #19: Interesting Interview
On a separate note, we get asked about our experience on Kickstarter a lot. Many have contacted us though Kickstarter asking us for tips and advice. If you’re thinking about doing a Kickstarter yourself, our friend Brian Kwong has already done a lot of the research to shortcut this process and launched his Kickstarter where he learns from the best of the best. He interviews Kickstarters of the top most funded projects for Product Design, Photography, Music, Publishing, and Fashion to find out what it takes to be successful.
Right after we returned from our trip to CES in Vegas, we did a video interview to help him launch his project. In the video we share about our experience with our Kickstarter project. If you are interested in starting your own project or simply interested in more of the back story behind what we have created, please check it out:

I'm super disappointed ...
a month - ok .. two months .. sure ..
but now .. this is ridiculous .. you do all these interviews and whatnot but I feel like you started this project as a hobby and 'let's see what can happen'besides the point that you're simply super far of what you announced, you're making it hard for backers of your product to trust new kickstarter projects unless they're created by established kickstarters .. not good :(

Valid points, I'm tired of waiting, too... but I'm sure he's tired of working! Anyone that invests in a company needs to have patience. This product is a highly technical product that required probably twice the amount of development time due to the nature of the materials. All products go through this type of process, we just never get to watch it. We watch TV shows about How things are made, and its a ten minute segment of a process that took years to hone. The iPhone4 isn't going anywhere soon, and the iPhone5 will be an easy adjustment and a much quicker process. I feel that we'll all have our iPhone4 cases by the time for some summer fun... in the meantime, I'll keep breaking otterboxes!

working in product development myself I can say the simple looking products are normally even more challenging to do. Keep up the good work, we're here to help you launch!

Update #18: Happy Chinese New Year to everyone!
What we have accomplished in the last 30 days:
- Tooling was completed
- Trial 2 shots were injected for all parts
- Created 10 fully assembled T2 samples of the EscapeCapsule
-
Built new website ( i.e. works better on iPhones ;-p )
- Celebrated New Year's with our love ones
- Attended the Consumer Electronics Trade Show in Vegas baby!
- Designed and prototyped the packaging
- Visited family in North America
- Celebrated June's Birthday!
Recently we have had a few people express their disappointment in the delayed timeline based on the original estimated delivery date. We really get your frustration as we are right there with you. This is our main focus in life right now and each day it is delay has a huge impact on us as people. When we posted the project we had a very optimistic timeline from our engineers, and if all had went according to plan, we would have been in production and shipping products before Christmas. As the old saying goes: "the best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry." That is to say, the most carefully prepared plans often go wrong. In hindsight, it would have worked to have add a few months to the production schedule in the event of potential delays. In this case our tooling drawings were complete and we were already meeting with the vendor before our Kickstarter project completed. Upon inspection the vendor was concerned about some of the small sliders in the tool cavity. There was a lot of back and forth communication... Essentially the factory was unwilling to cut final tooling until it was proven that the tooling concept would be workable for mass production. This meant we had to create a prototype tooling to prove our concept for mass production. Prototype tooling is a lot less expensive but ultimately takes just as long to create as normal tooling (approximately 45 days). After the proto-tool was complete, it then took several weeks to test inject parts to ensure the tool concept's reliability. This was a major delay that we could not have foreseen. Often there are challenges when dealing with a factory's internal tool engineers and their experience of what is or is not feasible. The prototype tooling worked just as Kaspar and Stefan had intended, and as a bonus we learned a lot about general problems with flow marks, venting and filling that we could address before we made the final tooling. Our second key delay was in the over mold tooling as we realized we could adjust a few small parts that would dramatically improve sound quality for making normal phone calls. We felt this was a very important improvement. Along the way we have also encountered a few small setbacks that were unforeseen, such as sourcing the super thin membranes that do not require us to make a minimum purchase order of 500 kilos or more. Our sound membranes are tiny and 500 kilograms of this material would serve to create billions of membranes. Not to worry, we have that sorted as well. One important point to note is that we are a tiny start up company, and even though our factory likes us and our product, we are not a big priority when they have orders from other clients that turn over hundreds of thousand of units. Lastly, communication between adjustments and refinement with the factory simply takes time so making changes is sometimes longer than we've planned for.
CES was an unbelievably intense, amazing, inspiring and exhausting event. For 4 days straight we were overwhelmed with people who were interested in our product - the press, individual buyers and wholesale distributors world wide. We even had one individual fly from Japan just to meet us at the show. (Toshi you ROCK!) We received our T2 samples which were sent straight from the factory just in time to demonstrate them at the show... We have to say they are beautiful. They withstood being immersed in a fish bowl for 9 hours each day during the show. We're happy to report that based upon the quality of the T2 samples, we got a lot of interested customers, retailers and distributors that we need to follow up with. Our priority to is get the product made and in your hands, and it looks like soon after that... the EscapeCapsule will be out in stores. Our biggest challenge is to figure out how to make enough for the demand. At the show people were consistently complimenting us on our design. They are initially impressed by how well the touch screen works through the case. Also, as they put it, our case is interesting because it bridges the gap between a fashion case and a fully covered rugged case. I.E. they really thought it looked cool. Ohhh! and we got to meet Seth Green, which was super cool.

Wow, This is what I really want to here from you. I agree with Alan, we are a team. We really need to know the progress, because I think this is the KS about. We go through all the progress 'together'. I believe for some of us it is a new experience, and if you are facing some issues we might give you feedback or help. Anyway, thanks for the update Josh and June.

Great update. Thank for sharring all this information. For my part, I understand that you take all the time you need to realize the best product you can. Kickstarter doesn't work like a giant store. You need to be patient because everything needed to be created.

Update #17: First shots of the Over-molding!
Hi Everyone,
Merry Christmas! Santa brought us a great gift this year: some awesome first production samples of the EscapeCapsule! We wanted to do a quick update to show you some pictures of the first shots of the over-molding on the main housing. There are a few areas that need some adjustment in the tooling to prevent "flash" from occurring. You can see this around the over-molding for the lock button on the images below. Otherwise, we are really seriously pleased with how the over-mold and housing look and feel. Even without the final polishing on the tool the plastic housing is already looking nice and shiny! We are very excited and simply wanted to share this with you. They are now making some tooling adjustments and we hope to have second round shots on all parts within the next few weeks. We will then work to assemble and test the first working units of the EscapeCapsule! :-D
We hope everyone has had a wonderful Christmas and is gearing up for a rocking New Years celebration. Today actually so happens to be Josh's Birthday as well, so we have lots to celebrate. Wishing everyone the best in the new year!
Lots of Love,
Josh & June
note: The color of the over-molding is not indicative of any color we will use on the product. When making first shots it is common for the factory to use recycled material from other production runs. These materials may have yellowed or have impurities that do not represent the final material colors or quality. We have made a request that we do the next shots in stealth black. ;-)

How much longer must we wait?? Please refrain from the mumbo, jumbo manufacturing bullsh... That's already been used in previous updates. A simple numerical value, (i.e. 12 months, 18 months) will do... I'm just asking what everyone "really" wants to know...
-
John Nolcox 4th on January 21
Like everyone else, we are growing impatient, it is now four months since they were supposed to be shipped and we are still getting these type of updates? Just the other day I saw a similar product in BestBuy that is also water/sand/dirt/dust proof for the same price I sponsored this project with. They even have a belt clip available.
"Project Creators are wholly responsible for fulfilling obligations both implied and stated in any project listing they create."
Its been almost six months since I have supported this project, and +4 months on a promised delivery date. Hopefully there will be a detailed update soon or I will be placing a Stop Payment and just purchasing the equivalent that is already readily available in a major retailer.

Update #16: Factory Visit and Development
Hello Everyone,
We want to update you on the development of the EscapeCapsule. This past Friday, we spent the day with our engineers in China to review the "first product shots" made off of the production tooling. First off, we want to let you know that the timeline for delivery of the EscapeCapsule has changed. We discovered some unworkable elements in the over-molding tool which has required us to re-tool a few of the small sliding elements that create the inner details within the part cavity. These changes will improve the durability and functionality for sound quality. This results in a delay in the tooling for the over-molding. Ultimately, this will delay production to February and delivery until March.
To specifically update you on all of the parts in detail, we describe the breakdown of how each part is coming along below.
The front housing looks good, although the tool is not polished yet so it does not look as shiny as the back plate. Polishing makes the parts look shiny so that they are crystal clear. The sliders produce some witness lines (faint lines on the surface of the plastic where two edges of the tooling meet) that need to be reduced. Once we fine tune the tooling, this will be barely visible. We are now going to use this part to start installing and testing the bonding method for the sound membranes for durability and feasibility in the production assembly process.
The back panel is complete and looks nice and shiny. There is a slight mold flow issue that creates a small line in the middle of the clear housing where the material joins as it flows. It is actually almost unnoticeable. This is normal in developing production tooling. They will adjust the size of the "gate" which injects material into the tool to create a faster and more even mold flow. This will solve this issue without any problems. The back plate snaps really secure and precisely into the front housing with a very satisfying click!
The headphone plug is complete. This needs a small improvement for mold flow, but looks good otherwise. We tested it in the original prototype case, and it fits very securely.
The O-ring that we saw is not quite tight enough when attached to the
rim. This is easy to modify. We will be testing a variety of O-ring
diameters and degrees of hardness (called "shore durometer") to get a
snug fit and the best seal possible.
The front membrane for the touchscreen now has an installation method that yields incredible results. The front screen can take 115 lbs of pressure before this part fails! As a matter of fact, the seal is so secure that when you apply force, the membrane itself breaks before the seal on the edges which ensures that it is securely watertight. We are supremely happy with this. These parts are now being tested in UV light, salt water, heat and cold to ensure the bond stays consistent for the lifetime of the use of the product.
The materials for the sound membranes have also been
improved. We are keen to have great sound quality, but there is a
balance we must strike between long term reliability, construction and
sound quality. Our currently reworked prototypes are close to 90% to a
normal phone call with the current configuration. We are working through
several options on how we will install and test these to ensure they
will work without issue for the lifetime of the product.
The lanyards are 100% complete and look and feel absolutely brilliant. We have 5,000 units that we are currently reviewing for quality control. We LOVE the color of the hyper yellow, and the glowing lanyards really work!
We cannot wait to start working on the master batches of color for the main housing and over molding. Regarding quality control, we do intend to test each product that we create so that you can be sure your EscapeCapsule will work as promised.
We will keep you updated regularly as the project progresses. We will have another meeting with the factory on December 25th when we have all of the parts and components ready for review. Yes, we will be working on Christmas, but what better gift could we get than production samples on Christmas Day?
We want to tell our supporters that we are sorry that we will not be able to deliver the EscapeCapsule in time for the holidays like many of you had hoped. Our intention is not to disappoint you but rather our commitment is to deliver a high quality product that you will love. It is from our stand that we deliver a product of exceptional quality to you that we do not want to take any shortcuts to compromise quality for time.
Finally, we want to let you know that your love, understanding and support being part of this journey with us is what makes it magical for us as we create our first product. Thank you! You are awesome and we love you all.
With great appreciation,
Josh & June

Look, I don't need perfection. I just need an iphone cover that will waterproof my iphone. I'm a large supporter of this project and frankly just want a prototype shipped to me so I can use it before the next iphone is released. I would be highly disappointed if apple changes the shape (likely) and then have to wait another full year for a waterproof case.

Update #15: Thrills and Spills
Hi everyone,
We have a lot to update you on and will be posting several updates over the next few days. Life has been action packed for us since our last update. A few weeks ago, Josh had a fairly serious traffic accident that put him in the hospital for 6 days. The accident ruptured his spleen and he lost 30% of his blood through internal bleeding. We are very grateful that he did not require any surgical intervention and will fully recover with time. Honestly, this Thanksgiving, Josh was simply grateful to be alive and celebrating the simple joys in life. This incident was unexpected, and created a bit of a road bump in our communications with everyone on Facebook and Kickstarter. We apologize and take responsibility for this. Our commitment had been to post an update about every 3 weeks. Please know that this did not interfere with the development of the EscapeCapsule, as the production tooling has been under the care of our engineers Kaspar and Stefan. The only real delay has been in Josh getting the packaging design sent to the factory during this time. We will update you all in detail about our factory visit this past Friday in a separate update.
Last month, we had the opportunity to meet John Biggs, the editor of TechCrunch, when he was in town for a TechCrunch meet-up. We talked with him personally and thanked him and TechCrunch for the story they wrote about our project. John told us that he gets about 4000 emails every day and he picked ours out and passed it on to Jordan Crook to write about us. This article was our actual Kickstart into the minds and hearts of hundreds of people who are now supporters of our project. We're still pretty thrilled and amazed by everyone's support. We still get daily emails from new people interested, and from distributors and retailers around the world. Exciting times are ahead.
Also, we got an iPhone 4S in white as soon as it became available in HK to confirm that the EscapeCapsule will work perfectly with all models of the iPhone 4. There is actually a very slight difference in thickness on the white and black iPhones, and we want to ensure that the case will work perfectly for both colors. By slight difference, we are talking about 0.2 millimeters. The buttons will all work perfectly even with the slight displacement due to the antenna on the 4S. Also, the new position of the ambient light sensor on the 4S will not be a problem since our case is clear and not covered. There was a slight change in the specs for the new front camera, and we adjusted the housing to accommodate this. By the way, Siri is amazing!
We wanted to leave you with a little bit of inspiration to think about. Why do something extraordinary? Why is it that people say that execution and attention to details make a world of difference? What difference does that make for me? Why is this product so different? There was a recently released TED Talk by Richard Seymour who really captures and describes this in his video about "How beauty feels". To summarize, beauty is not something you think but something you feel. The goal of the designer is to create an emotional bond between the product and you. Form is function. He does a brilliant job of illustrating how a millimeter here and there can completely change the beauty of an object. It can be incredibly difficult, painstaking and sometimes painful, but the end result is something that moves you and that you feel. In our last update, we described the process of development of the EscapeCapsule and let you know that we've been working really hard to refine all of the tiny little details. It involves a lot of little compromises, and we work in fractions of millimeters. Most people wouldn't notice this and might not think this is important. However, the end result is a product of exceptional quality and beauty that you can be proud to have backed on Kickstarter.
We are grateful to be alive, and working on this project. We are really grateful that you believe in what we are creating.
Love,
Josh & June

Update #14: Production Timeline
Dear Supporters,
As soon as we realized we would meet our funding on our Kickstarter project, we engaged our vendors to speed up the process to get the product made. Due to the complexity of the details and parts, the vendor encouraged us to create a prototype tool to test the tooling concept before we cut the steel for the final production tooling. (At the end of the video in update #11 you can see pictures of the prototype tooling that had just been completed on that day.) A prototype tool is made from less expensive steel that is easier to machine and modify (if changes need to be made) than the hardened steel that will be used for production. Creating a production tool is as much an art as it is a science. A good tooling designer is nothing short of an artist, and we are very grateful that we have Kaspar and Stefan working on this. Stefan and Kaspar both have years of experience engineering medical products with very high precision parts and high quality finishes and materials.
Long story short, the prototype tooling has allowed us to answer a lot of questions that might have caused us major problems in production if we had gone straight to the production tooling. This was not the ideal scenario, but we are certain this was the right strategy for us to move forward with. Having the main housing as a production part (although a bit rough around the edges) has also allowed us to test the assembly of the touchscreen membrane. There are a variety of methods to assemble this part and we are working out the best solution. So far in our first assembled pieces the touchscreen membrane has been able to withstand 5 newton meters (the limit of our scale) of pressure directly in the center of the screen without any issues. This is like putting the weight of a 15 lb dumbbell dead center on the screen. We have also reduced the thickness of the touchscreen membrane, which gives a near perfect interaction with the touchscreen interface. We are really happy with this result so far, and will further test this assembly for salt water exposure, and also test the strength when exposed to temperatures from -20 °C and +45 °C, which is the non operating temperature range in the Apple iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S technical specifications. We also noted that the min and max operational temperature for the iPhone 4/4S are 0 to 35 °C. So please be careful when using your iPhone in the Sahara desert or the Arctic!
The creation of any mass produced product is a balancing act between 4 basic factors: tooling feasibility, production stability, functionality, and design. This is at the core of all product development. Simply put, we want deliver a product of exceptional quality. Every stage that we go through from design to engineering to tooling to production requires some adjustments to find the right balance in getting them all to work. Unfortunately, this also has an impact on the production timeline. Our initial production schedule was very optimistic and we had to adjust it due to the complexity of our product. So here are the basic milestones we will be working towards for producing the EscapeCapsule.
Production tooling will be complete by approximately November 30th. At this time we will be able to produce and assemble the first "T1" production parts. These will likely be at 90% the quality of the final production unit. After this, It is going to take 3 to 4 weeks to fine tune the tooling. Our second round of production parts called "T2 samples" are planned to be completed by approximately December 15th. During this time, we will also start testing the T2 samples for functionality, waterproofing, drop tests, heat, cold, sound quality, and so on. On January 6th, we are scheduled to have our first pilot run of 100 pieces. These should be perfect for the most part. We will use these units to test for our IPX8 waterproof rating. Production is scheduled to start around the week of January 9th to 16th. We will first produce and ship the glow-in-the-dark green EscapeCapsules as our supporters for this have paid a premium for the Kickstarter Only Edition. We will then produce the blue and black EscapeCapsules in mass production. As soon as they are available, we will ship the orders for the Great Escape, Share The Love and The Full Deal. Please note, that the Chinese New Year celebrations will be between January 21st to January 30th. This is the major annual Holiday in China that is like Christmas and New Years for us. No factory will be running at this time. As we reach these milestones in our production schedule, we will update everyone on how the project is progressing.
Thank you all for your kind words, advice, encouragement and energy along the way. Without you, we would not be able to get this product into production and we really appreciate your patience, understanding and support as we do everything we can to make the EscapeCapsule a reality. We keep getting new emails, comments, tweets, requests for distribution, press coverage, product review requests and all sorts of feedback on a regular basis and we are thrilled to by all of this. Our main focus is to deliver you an exceptional quality product so that you can all be proud that you are a part of this and that you backed our project. You're awesome and we love you all.

Update #13: Backer Surveys & iPhone 4S
Hi everyone,
It has been a while since we updated you. We haven't communicated with you as much as we would like to so here's a quick update. After our project ended, we have been getting payments handled, sending out surveys to our backers, working on developing the tooling for producing the EscapeCapsule and working on packaging designs, a new website solution and some cool new accessories. The accessories are mostly based on questions, comments and suggestions that various people have had during our Kickstarter campaign. The feedback has been really valuable, and we cannot thank you enough for your input along the way. Speaking of communication, we are still missing 42 responses to our backer surveys so please send those in as soon as possible so we can be clear on the orders we need to make to each of the vendors.
Along with all of the daily work on our project, both of us have also each moved to new apartments. We have both have had to deal with the flu. Add to that some visiting friends and relatives and a few sports injuries to mend. Turns out that returning to our usual sports after not exercising for several months was not such a good idea. June was out for a few days after a wake-boarding mishap, and Josh's knee did not like the hike across a few mountains last weekend. Live and learn. ;-)
iPhone 4S Announcement
We watch the live stream of blog comments during the announcement of the Apple Keynote for the iPhone 4S & can't remember the last time we participated in something with so much hype and excitement. The iPhone 4S was both unexpected and at the same time a nice surprise for all of us since it will work perfectly with the EscapeCapsule. The 4S has the exact same dimensions as the current CDMA iPhone.
Production Timeline and Delivery Dates
We have had many requests for the exact date we will deliver the final product and it has been a tough question to answer. Each day we work on the development of the product we learn something new. We'll be having a meeting with our engineers tomorrow to go over all of the details for the tooling development and time lines. Right now we know that it is going to take longer than we originally expected to get the product to you. We have been finding that we were a little optimistic in our original schedule with a very complicated product to manufacture and to refine which leads to longer factory timelines not to mention holiday schedules for our manufacturer. We will update everyone on Kickstarter as soon as we know more after this meeting.
We want to thank you all for your support and encouragement and also for your patience as we work to get your EscapeCapsule produced.

It might be just me, but I think it's better to get a perfect EscapeCapsule a little later than expected than a rushed and thrown together product on time. Good things come to those that wait. lol
GREAT job people, I want the Best you can do not the Quickest. Also some more of your inventive ideas, please keep your loyal backers posted with regards to your next project/s (as I know you will)

Update #12: SUCCESSFULLY FUNDED!
Thank you!
To our backers, supporters, family, friends, and the Kickstarter community,
Woohoo! Today is a celebration. We have barely been able to contain our excitement as we counted down to the end of the most amazing 30 days of our lives and start a process that is even more extraordinary. We are inspired by the support, ideas, suggestions and contribution that you have made to us and our project. Together, we have turned the EscapeCapsule from a mere possibility into a reality.
We wanted to share a quote from Mark Twain that sums up how we feel right now: "Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."
What's next is that we will be communicating with you with updates on Kickstarter. Expect to hear from us with an email backer survey to get information from you for your orders. Please also visit our new website www.catalystlifestyle.com, sign up for our mailing list and follow us on Facebook or Youtube or Twitter so that we can let you know about new products including the iPhone 5 case once Apple launches the new iPhone.
Sincerely,

Hi Guys, thanks for taking the time to post comments about our website. We agree with you. We originally engaged a web designer to create our website in HTML5 to go together with our Kickstarter project. However, they were not able to finish the site on time, it did not look very professional and it was not workable as a webstore. We didn't have a lot of options given the time, our limited budget and our limited manpower (with our mighty team of 2). We knew that the flash site would have limitations for an IOS device, but it was the quickest, least expensive and most workable solution for us to create a site that really reflected the look and feel of our product in the last hours of our Kickstarter Campaign. Josh built the site in less than 12 hours using a free site builder from www.wix.com that we can update and manage ourselves. Trust us, we realize that this is less than ideal and we are working towards a more long term solution. For now, our main focus is on the development and production of the EscapeCapsule so that we can get it to you. We will have an update for you soon in regards to this. We do sincerely appreciate your feedback and we love hearing from you so thank you for letting us know. At any time if you have any more suggestions or ideas we are completely open to hearing from you. There's more to come, so please stay tuned. ;-)

Update #11: Our First Factory Visit
Hello to all of our backers and supporters,
We wanted to create a video update to share with you the process that you have started. With your help and generous support, we have got the ball rolling on production! This video is filmed today from our visit to the factory. We are very excited about the project and so is everyone we are working with. We are working diligently to get the details and timing coordinated so that we can get you the EscapeCapsule as soon as possible.
Thank you everyone for your overwhelming support. It is because of you that this entire adventure is possible and it would not be half as much fun if you weren't a part of it. We are so happy to have you all along with us on this exciting journey. There is much more to come, so please stay tuned as we continue to post updates and share with you about our project.
One last amazing day to go on Kickstarter. :-)
With Love,
Josh and June

@Serge, you are correct. Just be certain if you want more than one reward that your dollar amount is equal to the total of both rewards. So if you wanted two "Pledge$80 or More" (as an example), be sure your total is $160. After the close, you will receive a e-mail requesting the details of your order and you can specify that you ordered 2x "Pledge $80 or More". You just want to be sure your total cost amount totals all the rewards you want. Hope that helps.

Hi Suppawat, thanks for the question. Right now we are working on the details in developing our tooling for mass production. This simply takes time, and our exact shipping date is still unknown to us. We will keep you updated as everything progresses over the next month and a half.

Update #10: Update on Rubber Lanyard
We are excited to share with you some photos of the rubber lanyards from our engineers Kaspar and Stefan. The colors for these wrist straps are not perfect yet, but this is normal for a first round sample. We are stoked at how much the white lanyard GLOWS! We are busy working on all of the details for the EscapeCapsule, so that we can deliver it to you as soon as possible.
These are the lanyards you will receive in the "GET CONNECTED" tier, or that come with each EscapeCapsule that you pledge for. Each lanyard color is specific for one of the 3 colorways of the EscapeCapsule. The stealth black case comes with the black lanyard, blue and yellow case with the yellow lanyard, and then the "Kickstarter Edition" with the glow-in-the-dark lanyard. Please continue to share this with your friends on facebook, twitter and the blogosphere. Only 3 days left! Thank you everyone. :-)

Hey Parker & Dennis, thanks so much for your support! We are so excited and can't wait to get your EscapeCapsules to you. We'll be keeping you updated over the next few months.
Dennis, Awesome question! These waterproof flexible lanyards are really handy to have and if you want to get a few extras, just add $10 for each extra lanyard you want in the reward tier that you are supporting us at. We'll be following up after our Kickstarter project ends with a backer survey to get addresses, colors, sizes for Tshirts, and any other information we may need.

Update #9: Product Testing the EscapeCapsule with the Adorable Little Marcus :-)
Filmed in Tuscaloosa, Alabama with the adorable little Marcus McClanahan. It is so cute to watch children play with Apple products. The intuitive interface makes it possible for even the 15 month old Marcus to use and enjoy the iPhone. If you notice, even the he is hesitant to put the phone into the bath, and so is his proud Father Scott. Kids are so smart.
As most people upgrade to newer and better iPhone models, the EscapeCapsule makes your iPhone 4 the perfect hand-me-down gadget for any youngster. You can relax knowing the iPhone is protected and sealed for even the rowdiest kiddo.
The EscapeCapsule is your iPhone 4's life jacket. A waterproof case designed to protect your phone from water, rain, snow, sand, mud, scratches, sticky little fingers and bubble baths.
Catalyst, for the adventure of living. :-)
With Love,
Josh and June
ps. A special thank you to Scott, Gina and little Marcus. We had a
wonderful day hanging out. We love little Marcus and hope to see you all
again soon.

Update #8: How cool is this! :-D
How cool is this! We got mentioned on a tech podcast called "Just the Tech" by Jason Slater! Although, it is a bit misleading, as the host refers to our project as an iPhone 5 conceptual project... To be clear, we are offering an "iPhone 4" EscapeCapsule through Kickstarter. But hey, as they say, any press is good press. Thank you so much Jason Slater! :-)
The podcast also covers some other interesting Apple and iPhone 5 rumors. I highly recommend giving it a listen. ;-)

Update #7: What will the new iPhone 5 look like?
We don't know. Like everyone else, we've been following the rumors and leaks about the iPhone 5. We are just as eager as you for Apple's announcement.
Right now, everyone is interested in what the design might look like. Catalyst is all about fun and creative ideas, so we're adding our 2 cents on the topic du jour with our ideas. We've rendered a hypothetical iPhone 5 design together with an EscapeCapsule tailored to fit. We started with dimensions posted on MacRumors and worked out the most likely features based on what we've seen. The trend in the rumors appears to be towards a curved metal back, which is great for us, as we will be able to create a more compact case around the (allegedly) super thin housing of the up and coming iPhone 5.

We've already gotten a ton of requests for the iPhone 5 version of the EscapeCapsule and we're not taking pre-orders for a iPhone 5 version yet.
We specifically addressed this with the staff at Kickstarter, and they promptly advised us not to do so, considering we really have no idea what the design will be on a yet-to-be-released product. This is good advice if you just check out the variety of rumors that are out there about what the iPhone 5 looks like at MacRumors, 9to5mac, GottaBeMobile, This is my next, iDealsChina, and there's even a video of a version with a laser keyboard & holographic display concept.
Our Kickstarter campaign ends on September 21st at 5:58am before the iPhone 5 launches, but we wanted to leave you with this teaser of what our case could look like. If you want to be added to our mailing list so that we can let you know when the iPhone 5 version is available, send us an email titled "iPhone 5" to info@catalyst-international.com.

8 more days to get a glow-in-the-dark EscapeCapsule
Please continue to share our Kickstarter project and update videos on Facebook, YouTube & Twitter or post a comment on your favorite blog. The iPhone 4 will be around for a long while to come, especially with the rumored iPhone 4GS using the same basic platform. Worldwide, there are also 40 million current iPhone 4 users who just might want a bit of extra protection on those trips to the beach or out in the rain. If you are about to upgrade to an iPhone 5, consider your old iPhone 4 combined with an EscapeCapsule as your handy beach going camera and video companion.
We're only on Kickstarter for 8 more days and the Kickstarter limited edition glow-in-the dark green EscapeCapsule is only available until Sep 21. We've only asked for funding for tooling costs on Kickstarter, so any extra money we get on Kickstarter will go towards production, engineering, quality control and lab testing. Our level of success here will determine how quickly we can move forward to create other models and products.
We really want to acknowledge Sebastian from Stuttgart, Germany for being our Angel Supporter. Thank you Sebastian. You're awesome! You've made a huge difference for our project and we cannot wait to meet you and show you a once-in-a-lifetime experience in Hong Kong. The hidden beaches, waterfalls, jungles just outside of this vibrant city will be a trip to remember.
Thank you everyone for your support. We have many more ideas. Stay tuned for more fun. ;-)

Also, there are a few hidden beaches, waterfalls and epic rock climbing spots that we would love to share with you. Sound fun? Of course, it's the ultimate escape!

Hi Josh and June,
glad to hear that you are making progress but to be honest... you really have to finish it soon.
For an accessory to be almost half a year (original shipment date was September!) behind schedule is way too much. Imagine we would have seen an iPhone 5 and not an iPhone 4S in October....
Wish you the best for finishing it soon!
