Catalyst is a reflection of who we are and what we do in life.
Great update. Congratulations!
I am wondering if I will even have an IPhone 4s by the time this comes out.
Are all of the black cases shipped out yet? Is there anyway to track the shipment? Hopefully they will be coming in the mail soon!!!
What's happening? Throw us a bone! Suspense, suspense...
Hope everything is going well, can't wait to try mine here in Florida! :^D
Actually, having some experience working with several brands that have brought notable products to market thus far, I have to say that Catalyst is doing a good job. It's not an easy task going into manufacturing and development, and the learning curve is steep but they have consistently kept everyone updated here and haven't made any excuses for delays.
I'm willing to be patient because if all that time means Catalyst will be shipping a quality product, I'm all for it. Don't rush to pacify a few but definitely take the time to iron out all the kinks and issues.
@alvin ian, it clearly says on each pledge "ESTIMATED Delivery ..."--not "I swear on everything holy that thou shalt have thine case by ..." Quit playing the martyr and be glad that they provide updates with reasons for the hold-up.
What's terrible is your public bashing of a project that's being build from scratch. Tell ya what: why don't *you* try creating an idea and running it all the way through to final product/delivery and report back how perfectly your project runs. Do that, then you can start throwing stones from your glass house. Until then, send your gripes through a personal message.
I've been very patiently waiting for the capsule to arrive at my doorstep since last year and I'm very disappointed. Till today there's no sign of getting it. It suppose to follow me travel around the world, but now its my 6th trips since the "promised date" and I still DID NOT get my case yet. I'm force to get another waterproof casing which is much cheaper.... I like a refund too if possible, you guys/gals time management are really terrible.
Heading to Hawaii, am I going to be forced to buy some other water case for my iPhone? Any hope of getting one this week? Don't care what it looks like as long as its water proof. HELP...
I was nice and sent a PM to you with no response...
Again very disappointed... Updates?? You stated production would start today at the latest! And.......??? Nothing....we have all funded the project but you can't be bothered to update us all weekly on progress. It only takes a few minutes to write a small update... Please don't say you havent got the time as that's rubbish. I'm sure you can understand why we are all so frustrated. The iPhone 5 is just round the corner meaning we have all wasted our money on a product that will then be pointless.
Very disappointed on how you have been managing this project. I already have a waterproof iPhone case, works very well and for the third of the price. I understand how KS works, but anyway wanted to express what I think.
My bad, hopefully they will is what I meant
Thanks for the thorough updates. Life happens. Hopefully Apple won't change the body of the iPhone 5 and rename it to the New iPhone like they did to the iPad and appletv. Love the videos!
Hi are only black ones being made so far? What about the other colors?
Sorry to say, when and if mine does arrive, i will be sending back for a full refund. Its been so long I don't even have the phone anymore.
Not happy its been put back yet again even if it is just 2 weeks! Me and my team are kayaking 201.2km all next week for the British red cross and I really, really hoped I would have it for this trip! I ordered it way back when we were planning the whole event knowing I would have it ready for the trip! Absolute let down... I wish I would of put my money into a different project and just bought a lifeproof... At least then my iPhone would of been protected for the trip. Another thing - updates... Please update us every week - or even every 2 weeks!! Anyway I hope this case comes to fruition soon...but I won't hold my breath

Im waiting for my capsule but Please don't makeme wait for an update!
Hi Jeffrey, thank you so much for your comment, it really does mean a lot to us. We are preparing some videos and a new update to be posted soon. There has been so much action in the past week and we are on track for everything at this moment. Just tying up details. It has been a lot of long days, late nights and traveling back and forth from China. All good news to come.
@Robert giving it away for free? ;)
At this rate I'll have an iPhone 5 before my escape capsule. Anyone want mine?
Just wanted to say, I am VERY EXCITED by this project and feel the investment has provided an experience far greater than I imagined. I am sorry there are so many negative posts, but I think people feel invisible online and don't realize there are real hearts and souls on the other end.
I wish you continued success, LOVE the updates. :-) Hugs and positive thoughts to the team.
It has been another very intense week for us and yes we have some very exciting news. A full update on all of this will be posted soon. All tooling related challenges have been surmounted and it is time for the pilot run. We are working through and negotiating the last few details with vendors for full scale production. We are really excited. :-)
I just got 2 iphone 4S's today! YAY!!! not only is it St. Patty's day, but its iPhone 4S day for me too! Let me know when you're gonna have them done... I want to put mine in some glow in the dark ones for camping fun!!!
It is March... Ahh March. I have written several letters to our Josh and June on several of the links provided but they have not had one second to write me back...So between moving and traveling and I hope working on re creating the Atari 2600 they must be busy. I recently found that they were going to invent a machine which creates fire. Hope they get that to the finish line before anyone else. I am not really mad, I just wish at least they would write people back.. I write this as I have no hope in getting my project anytime soon and was meeting with my accountant and when asked about this, told her to write it off as charity.. LOL. The only thing kickstarted with this project is my genuine dislike of the customer service provided. Holding my breath..................................
I love the concept of this product, it's usability, functionality and it's cool design. That being said, I feel I have been patient long enough. I haven't said anything to this point about the constant delays but my patience is starting to run thin. I live a very active life and the reason I supported this project was because of the many uses I would get from it. But if its' functionality is only useful in theory, than I should have only supported it in theory. The problem is I supported it in reality, with actual cash, and to this point I have nothing to show for it but empty completion dates and sporadic updates that have meant nothing. I apologize for the tone of this message but I am beginning to get upset about the disrespect being shown to the people who supported your vision and have made it possible for you to pursue it. I guess what I'm asking for is a "REAL" timeline of when we can "ACTUALLY" expect this product. The weather is warming up and I'm back in the water and have spent an additional $80 on the life proof water case(which works wonderfully by the way). Please deliver something real to us besides words.
Well, let's hope this product is ready for the hot and sweaty Hong Kong summer, which is fast approaching....
Oh, and I hope that what you've learnt in the making of this product will ensure a faster turnaround for the next generation iPhone :)
How do we go about getting refunded? This is taking so much longer than promised. My desire to buy this product was based on the delivery date. i guess our money is going to good use carting these two all over the globe and writing convincing updates and cute stories. I bought a product. Not a cute BS story. Cute stories get real old when our money is sitting in your account and products are not delivered.
I feel the same as the others. The only reason I pledged was to support their ideas and because of the estimated/promised delivery date. I travel extensively all over the world for work, and I enjoy many recreational outdoor activitites where this case woudl come in handy daily. I could not wait after each delay and missed date so I went and purchased a LifeProof case, which is of exceptional quality (Gen2). It even has an extensive array of accessories available for it. I no longer have a need for the EscapeCapsule and have officially requested a refund. Sorry but when trying to get a company started PR is just as important as funding and to make multiple promises and miss them is unacceptable, the lack of information is unacceptable.
I don't need to know about birthdays or holidays, I want timelines and information on a regualr basis. They are already so far behind that I believe they should be updating everyone once a week atleast to show their customer/support base that they are actually keeping us in mind.
Goodluck on your next adventure Josh and June.
I'm just excited I finally can afford an iPhone again! I had to drop mine for a bit to refocus... was a good lesson. Anyhow, I'm happy that I'll be getting a case REALLY soon!!! (Sorry if I was being defensive, was not my intention...) It's going to be exciting to actually dunk the phone in water!
Its not so much about patients. I know things take time. But for me I dont even have the phone anymore its been so long. Thats why Im asking about returns.
WOW guys! Let's try and be patient here! You're not "ordering a case from inventory", but supporting a design dream! I know these things take time because I make products too. To make a quality product free of issues and drama, it takes time to resolve these issues. If he just released this product as is, there could be optical clarity issues, fitment, etc. None of us would be happy then. It doesn't happen overnight, but in reality, he IS working while we all sleep to make this happen. I'm lucky enough to know Josh in both a personal and business capacity, and he's one of the most prolific and astute minds in the design game. If the process is taking awhile, its because you're going to get the best there is. (Also, please keep in mind that this is a very high quality and technical product, more so than average. I don't envy some of the hurdles he's been dealing with!!!)
On that note, let's put the gas on the pedal, Josh! I wanna see these cases!
I know these things can take awhile. but what is the return policy once we actually get it? I don't even have my iphone anymore its been so long.
for me personally, I know it's hard to be patient. I am waiting with anticipation but I also know that I can't fault these guys as this is what Kickstarter is all about. I am all for them delivering a well engineered case that won't kill my phone in or near water. waiting is a small price to pay, I think.
So far, I've received one kickstarter product which I am happy with, and one I bought after a successful campaign on kickstarter. the latter, was rushed to market and now I have to deal with that. Iesson learnt. I can see you guys are not dillydallying and that's enough for me....
Hello Josh Wright & June Lai .. it is been almost a month since the last update .. the world is moving fast so any new updates?
Seriously ! This is taking too long. It's going to be 6 months now and I am getting tired of waiting. For all we know, by the time this "product" is launched or shipped, Apple might have released / announced a new or redesigned iphone. And if that happens, this case will be practically useless isn't it. You can' expect me to keep the old iPhone 4S just to use this case ?
I am very disappointed with the way things are progressing right now. It's either you arrange for a refund to all, ensure that this case or product will be compatible with the new iPhone ! I pity the person that had so much faith in you till he pledged $8,888 but it keeps on being delayed.
EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED !
For me, Kickstarter has always been about supporting creativity…
The EscapeCapsule is the first product by Catalyst. And this product is right in line with Catalyst’s motto, “EXPORE, DREAM, DISCOVER”. I love the spirit of that motto! Would love to live like that too. Can’t wait to take my EscapeCapsule on adventures. Keep going, Catalyst. I’m right there behind you!
Yeah, that was an out of line comment and I do apologize to Josh & June for that. But, like Stewart said, this project is becoming a dinosaur with each passing week. I would be very surprised if the iPhone 5 is not announced within the next 6 months, and for those people like myself who upgrade to new technology very quickly, this case will only be good as a nice selling feature for my iPhone 4S! I'm not mad though, as I was happy to help fund this project. As a small business owner myself, I like to see up and coming entrepreneurs like Josh & June have a successful launch and I wish them the best in their future projects!
I see where you are coming from, and can understand why someone would feel like the product is getting more useless every day. To me it is not useless as I purchased an iPhone 4S and I plan on having that for at least 2 more years, during which time this case will come in handy on a number of occasions. My issue with what Tim said was that he was calling the project a scam, which I don't believe is the case at all.
Tim, I would not sweat it. I have been quietly waiting as many have. I am very disappointed with the outcome of this product. I have invested in many projects and have been very happy. This group and product have been a disaster. I have officially asked for a refund. the product is now a dinosaur and of no use to me.. but that’s how life goes. Adrian I enjoy your enthusiasm for an outdated project. This group has missed 4 promise dates already.
Haha, don't sweat it mate.
I feel like an ass. How do I remove a post??!! I realize that I have been out of the loop too long on this project and that's my own fault! Been too busy with my business I suppose!!
My bad!!
Oh, and thanks for the update :)
Aww, how cute, Tim thinks this is a scam. Welcome to Kickstarter Tim! ...it is not a webshop.
Look at projects like the i+Case and Juicies for actual scams. The level of communication, quality of updates and general honesty Josh and June have provided us with are certainly not markers of a scam. Much more likely they were just a bit optimistic with time, as would probably anyone be in their shoes.
Can you say scam??!!!
I am growing impatient. I found similar products online with better look and very competitive price. I understand that KS is about funding a (new) idea become reality. But do you think it is a bit too late for you to launch a product that used to be Innovative while others have sold their similar product worldwide ?
Coming up on a month since the last update now guys, any chance of a quick summary of what's going on at the moment?
Just bought a LifeProof Case.
It works just fine and Cost $79 plus shipping.
When the EscapeCapsule is ready it will be also put to use.
I knew I was taking a chance of delays in production by backing a new product.
I just hope that it is a great final product and lesson learned for everyone else who backs KickStarter projects.
I wanted this case for my iPhone 4, and now I'm already using the 4S, which thankfully fits. I hope I will get delivery before I change to iPhone 5, which probably will be a different design. The lifespan of the case for me is getting shorter everyday.
