Every artist has a different story
We've been building our software slowly, starting with an idea, customizing it for a specific artist based on their individual needs, sharing that with more people and customizing again. Hundreds of opinions and ideas have shaped the stuff we're starting to release.
The idea that we're building something not just for but also with musicians has been at the heart of CASH Music since the very beginning. So when we started thinking about this campaign we reached out to the friends who've been there for us and asked them to talk on camera — not to just endorse CASH but tell their stories.
Every artist has a different story and different needs. The idea driving us is that we need to find a way to help all those different needs, and that an open+nonprofit solution means more flexibility — in customizations, third-party connections, etc. In short we're trying to empower artists with more control over their business. So we just started conversations with people about what working online as a musician means to them, what their challenges are, and how they see the future.
This video focusses on five different stories and five different perspectives. Thank you to Amanda Palmer, Jonathan Coulton, Jamie Stewart, The Thermals, and Gary Jarman for sitting through all the questions — by telling your stories you're helping us tell ours.
And thank you to Erin Donovan, Erin O'Connor, Andy Blubaugh and
everyone else who are helping us with the videos. And to Sleigh Bells
and Mom+Pop Music for letting us use "Born To Lose" in the background.
(And thanks to Zola Jesus and Sacred Bones for clearing "Vessel" and "In Your Nature" for
the first video.)
PS: More details on the shirt and comp coming this week! We owe more
updates but it's been crazy over here. But in a good way...thank you!
