I know the PCBs arrived. What I don't know is if the solder stencil arrived. That would be the last holdup before assembly on the boards starts. Once I know, I'll post another update.
Creator Halion J Abramovitch about 22 hours ago
any news? :)
Creator Cascadia Games LLC on April 15
Ha, well that's one way to put it. :)
Hopefully an update out this week. I've delayed posting one until we get confirmation that assembly of the circuit boards en masse has begun. Last I heard, delivery of a solder stencil was the holdup. So I'm just waiting for the good news as well. Everything else is ready and we're anxious to ship.
Creator Michael Seitz on April 15
Hey guys, my e-mail inbox keeps not receiving your we are shipping e-mail! When are you going out, it's been a while???
Creator Manuel Winter on March 26
Sounds great!!!
Looking forward...
Creator Cascadia Games LLC on March 25
SUPER close. We should be in the final couple of weeks of prep. I'll get an update out this week. I expect we'll be shipping by April 15. :)
Creator Manuel Winter on March 25
Hi Guys,
any news on when the shippment will start.
Can't wait to get my hand on the GameDock.
Cheers
Creator Michael Heald on February 9
FANTASTIC to see the cases finalised! The excitement I have for playing Cavorite on my TV is bizarrely irrational ;) I might go as far as saying I'm as excited for this as I am about the next gen consoles...and yes, I know that sounds crazy.
Creator Cascadia Games LLC on January 15
Also, I tend to do more real-time small updates on the twitter accounts @cascadiagames and @iosgamedock . Thanks!
Creator Cascadia Games LLC on January 15
The only hold up is the arrival of plastic case samples. Those are due to ship this week. We're doing a final fitting before I green-light circuit board production. If no issues, I'd estimate we ship by early February. If we need to make adjustments, then late February.
As a soon as I get a look at those samples, I'll post a big update. Everything else is basically ready to go. :)
Creator Brendan Harkess on January 15
Is there any update available for this or are we left to wonder what is happening?
Creator Cascadia Games LLC on December 20
I'm actually organizing all of that info right now. You can send it to support (at) cascadiagames (dot) com
Creator Carlos Madrigal on December 20
Hello guys, is there a page/form where I can change my shipping address?
Creator Cascadia Games LLC on December 4
Hey Skeam,
I'll get that question out as soon as I know if Christmas delivery is possible. Right now, everything is still being produced. I don't want to offer the option until it's officially available. Hopefully, more news on that soon.
Thanks,
Chris
Creator Skeam Riaj on December 4
Just received my survey & it mentioned nothing about Christmas Delivery.
Creator Cascadia Games LLC on November 3, 2012
Hey guys,
We are still working hard. We'll have a real update soon. This week we are putting together the final PCB and case design for production. We are about a week behind schedule on that, but so far no major hiccups yet. We already have over 1,000 gamepads and 350 HDMI adapters on-hand. We hope to at least get domestic orders into backers' hands before Christmas and hopefully international as well.
We have the new brand and the new website goes up soon. In the interim, we have been taking pre-orders as well.
The iPhone 5 situation isn't as good. The games, dashboard app, and controllers will work. But apple's 30-pin adapter doesn't support the HDMI adapter. Folks who upgraded to an iPhone 5 will need to get the official lighting HDMI adapter. The GameDock sends its controls wirelessly. So you would plug your phone into its apadter directly rather than into the dock. It's frustrating but unfortunately we gambled on the adapter working and lost.
Creator Jason Veach on November 3, 2012
Any further info on charging pins for iPhone 5?
Creator Brendan Harkess on November 2, 2012
Is there any new developments with the project as far as where things are and when we will see the product?
Creator Cascadia Games LLC on October 2, 2012
Hey Marco,
The GameDock connects via bluetooth. In that sense, it already supports iPhone 5. We're just waiting on Apple to release iPhone 5 video adapters. What we most likely won't be able to do in the short-term, however, is make a 2nd model that has Lightning dock / charging pins as we don't have access to those parts right now.
Let me know if that makes sense or if you need more clarification.
Creator Marco Morelli on October 2, 2012
I'm a backer and I'm wonder if you're going to include iPhone 5 support?
Creator Nemo Pohle on August 16, 2012
Even without the stretch goals I'm excited that we made it!
Creator B2B on August 15, 2012
Good luck in the last 24 hours :)
Creator Cascadia Games LLC on July 28, 2012
Hi Antti. We appreciate your concern but it's misplaced. We are fully aware of MFi and how to comply. Thanks!
Creator Antti Lukats on July 28, 2012
Hey, it is not that simple as that, there are only two ways of doing apple dock accessories, the Apple legal way what implies the MFi (Made for i) licensing scheme. MFi licensing is quite complicated process, it is only granted if the company producing Apple accessories satisfies all requirements set by Apple laser. This includes access to company audit records to Apple and payment of up to 25% royalties from the profit made by the sales. Any products developed and sold by any other means are not considered legal by Apple. This means that any software developed for those products will never be accepted to Apple store. I have read enough legal papers to be very sure about this. Only after you get MFi licensee status Apple will tell what type of connectors can be used and where to buy them. It is not OK to buy them from china! Anything that connects to iPod-iPhone-iPad dock and is not made under MFi license is directly a "piracy product" that Apple will shut down if they think it worth the legal hassle for them. Sorry for saying that, but it is better to know this in advance rather than having hard legal fight later.
If you do it without MFi, then it means that its the jailbreak way...
Creator Greg McClain on July 27, 2012
Congrats on reaching your goal! Now lets see some stretch goals.
Creator Cascadia Games LLC on July 27, 2012
Thanks for the FB help, Annette!
Creator Cascadia Games LLC on July 27, 2012
Hey Antti, thanks for the pledge. The GameDock will meet all Apple requirements before it ships out. We love Apple and would never support hardware or software that doesn't comply with the standards for their products. Thanks!
Creator Antti Lukats on July 27, 2012
On the photo of the PCB I do not recognize the Apple security chip, who is the legal Entity who has MFi agreement with Apple? To my best knowledge ALL products that use the Apple dock connected need to be MFi licensed.
Creator Annette Ciotola on July 26, 2012
Just shared out on FB to help you get that last $780! ;)
Creator Cascadia Games LLC on July 26, 2012
*Ahem*, I meant Marlo. Sorry for the mistype.
Creator Cascadia Games LLC on July 26, 2012
Ha, thanks Mario. The song is called "Neo Technology" by Krzyzstof Horn. You can find it here (I shortened the awfully long link): http://goo.gl/FyUd0. Thanks so much for your support!
Creator Marlo Dell'Antonio on July 26, 2012
What is the background music playing during your promo video? I mean, the GameDock is cool and all... but I think the music is what sold me ;) Ha ha, just kidding. Excellent concept and best of luck with production. -Marlo
Creator Cascadia Games LLC on July 24, 2012
Hey Ryan, that's fair to say. I think as we approach the stretch goal, we'll look into updates / announcements as appropriate. The plan is to buy 3rd party controllers, so we could definitely share when the time comes. Thanks!
Creator Ryan Saul on July 24, 2012
Quick observation: I like the stretch goals for SNES and other controllers, but these should be up-front and center on the home page. Also some pictures of those controllers wouldn't hurt :)
Creator Annette Ciotola on July 21, 2012
I should have read though the comments more. I saw my answer. I currently use the iCade with my iPad so I'm good. Awesome!
Creator Annette Ciotola on July 21, 2012
Would this work with Mame for the iOS?
Creator Cascadia Games LLC on July 20, 2012
Tomomi, sorry to hear that. We aren't able to edit rewards' text once someone pledges. Drop us a note when we send out the survey at the end of the campaign. We'll see what we can do to make things right. :)
Creator Ackieee on July 20, 2012
Oh dear... I've changed my pledge from $100 to $125 so I can obtain the controllers and the HDMI adapter... :-(
Creator Cascadia Games LLC on July 19, 2012
Yes, the $100 early-bird is the same as the $125 pledge level. :)
Creator Bob Fine on July 19, 2012
Hi guys,
Just a quick question. Does the $100 pledge GameDock come with any controllers?
Thanks,
Bob
Creator Noam Sigal on July 19, 2012
Hi guys. Great idea, concept and project. If you could just update a little more, it would be fantastic. Thanks!
Creator Wilson Lim on July 17, 2012
thanks guys :D all that is really heartening to hear!
this is just insane.. if PS3 and Xbox360 can work with the GAMEDOCK, you guys should really get in touch with the Onlive dude! (This would make PC Games playable on the iPad as well, this time with the console controls as well)!
Creator Cascadia Games LLC on July 17, 2012
As far as supporting other controllers -- that's probably a good stretch goal. We've talked a litte bit about that, for sure! We'll think about it some more. :)
There's not much we can do right now about the potential Apple port change. If they go to a universal standard, it should be easy enough to work around.
Creator Wilson Lim on July 16, 2012
I would actually go crazy.. if the game ends up supporting my PS3 Dualshock or even the Xbox 360 Controller! (since both can be operated by USB)
hmm there have been rumours that Apple may change its port to a more universal standard. Any takes on that? Would that be an adapter provided if it does happen in the future? :D
just 10K to go!
Creator K&K Harry on July 15, 2012
This is great! Can't wait to see this project succeed!
Creator bootsector on July 14, 2012
Outstanding project! Although I'm an Android user, I'm pretty sure my wife will be so interested on this dock! Could you guys please make it compatible with the "USB RetroPad Adapter" (http://www.brunofreitas.com/node/41)? Please let me know so I can send you a sample! Keep up the great work!
Creator Michael Heald on July 13, 2012
Oooooh you've just passed $35k, getting ever closer! I'm guessing your going to surpass the goal so I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for stretch goals :)
Creator Cascadia Games LLC on July 12, 2012
Hey Megan. Thanks! You've got our thinking down exactly. We just gave Glass Bottom a follow on Twitter. :)
Creator Megan Fox on July 12, 2012
I'd say the biggest issue is the small button count, but still, I'd call this the future of console gaming. Maybe the second version of your device, maybe something like it, but - "drop in phone I keep upgrading or got given by a parent" -> "instant high-powered TV gaming" is potent stuff. Yeah, you could do similar with a separate plug and an 8-bitty, but this is the whole shabang in a user-friendly package. Great work!
(and we'll definitely be supporting it over at Glass Bottom Games, by way of iCade support)
Creator Cascadia Games LLC on July 11, 2012
Hey Danny. That's the plan. :)
