Crustacea is a fiberglass aerial dance object (a human-scale shell) that Lomask is creating for Capacitor's immersive performance, "Okeanos".
Capacitor dance company needs to raise $3000 to pay for the creation of a new performance object to be used in their next show, "Okeanos". It will premiere in Spring 2011. We are in the midst of rehearsals, with completed designs and mockettes of the new object. The performance object, "crustacea", will be our first fiberglass aerial object. A solo female will perform an aerial piece in, around, and on "crustecea", describing the physical experience of home that characterizes many nomadic crustaceans within their ocean dwellings. The show will reconnect audiences to our shared fascination with ocean life and our need to care for and protect ocean habitats.
