Pirate & Hoopoe continues to win hearts! I was honored to be one of 30 celebrated authors at the 11th annual Berkeley Public Library Foundation Authors Dinner last Saturday night. It was a wonderful evening. I was humbled to be included among real pillars of the Bay Area literary community, and to be recognized for my work as a publisher, illustrator, and author. You can read more about the star-studded event here. The yearly Authors Dinner raises funds for the BPLF, which is dedicated to supporting learning and knowledge in the Berkeley community by enhancing the library facilities, programs, and services.
Castle in the Air also contributed to the event by creating 31 centerpieces to grace the dinner tables. Each piece is a unique world within a book. You can read more about the pieces, and see photos, at the Castle in the Air blog. The proceeds from the sale of the centerpieces benefit the BPLF. All of the works will be on display and for sale at Castle in the Air from February 18th through March 18th.
Finally, I wanted to announce that I have published another book! Commonplace Birthday is the second volume in the adventures of Commonplace Mouse. This time, Minikin and Belinda dream up a celebration complete with invitations, decorations, and a feast, and use their perseverance and ingenuity to make everything come together, even when it looks like it might fall apart. And we've dreamt up our own party to match theirs! You are invited to Commonplace Birthday's birthday celebration, on the evening of March 14th at Castle in the Air. The Castle in the Air blog will be updated with details about event in the near future. I hope to see you there!
