After releasing my first solo EP last April, it’s about time for me to release my first full-length solo album. But since I’m not signed to a record label, I’M GOING TO LET YOU GUYS BE MY RECORD LABEL.

I need to raise $5,000 to record an album and you guys get cool prizes for each amount that you donate. For some of the contribution amounts, there are even a couple options, just in case you want to contribute a certain amount, but want a different prize. If I don’t reach my goal of $5,000, though, I don’t get anything and I can’t make the album.

Here’s why I need your help:
Creating a high quality album is a very expensive process. Here’s the breakdown:
- Tracking/Recording - the process of recording each of the instruments and the vocals - costs a couple thousand dollars.
- Mixing - taking each of the recorded tracks and combining them (mixing them) to make the song sound good together - adjusting the volumes of each track, adding effects such as reverb or echo, etc. - costs a couple thousand dollars.
- Mastering - after each track has been mixed and converted into one stereo audio track (instead of one track for each instrument), the audio levels and EQ must be adjusted for each song and for the album as a whole - costs a few hundred dollars.
- CD production - once I have the completed songs, in addition to making the songs available on iTunes and other digital distributors, I have to replicate them onto high quality CDs with high quality photography, design and packaging - a few hundred dollars.
- I estimate the whole project will cost about $5,000 and so that’s the amount I’m trying to raise.
Here’s how you can help:
Record labels give the artists/bands who are signed with them the necessary funds to record songs and albums. But since I don’t have a record label, (and you guys are WAY cooler than a record label anyway) I’m asking you to be my record label. I don’t think it would be fair to simply ask for charitable donations, however, so if you look to the right of the screen you can see certain, prizes/incentives that you receive for each amount that you contribute. While the more you contribute, the more likely we are to make this album happen, any contribution amount helps. With that said, however, IF WE DON’T REACH OUR GOAL OF $5,000, WE RECEIVE NOTHING (and you pay nothing) AND WE WON’T BE ABLE TO MAKE THE ALBUM. So if you guys want the album to be made, then spread the word and get more people involved so we can reach our goal!

I get to make a higher-quality album! The more money you contribute, the more money I'm able to spend on studio time, recording quality and fine-tuned production. Every penny will go towards the album. So don't hold back!

You CAN, but it's better not to so we can all have an accurate idea of how much more I need to raise. It would be a bummer to find out at the deadline that everybody's final push wasn't enough to reach $5,000. It's better to have an accurate idea before the deadline of what kind of final push we need.
