I'm an independent singer/songwriter and I'm making an album. Want to make a record with me?
I have a shiny batch of songs I've been working on and road-testing over the past year, and I think they're the best I've ever written. I've been touring with some wildly talented musicians (Hans Holzen, Kyle Kegerreis, Darlingside) and I'm thrilled that they want to join me on this album! I hope you will join us too.
I'm so excited to make a record that will do these songs justice, but my bank account is not. I need a little help from my fans.
How fan-funding works with Kickstarter
Based on how much you pledge, you can choose from sweet rewards like an advanced copy of the album, T shirts, homemade maple syrup - even a house concert! (Check out all the goodies in the sidebar). All proceeds go directly toward producing the album - your pledge makes this album possible.
I have set the funding goal for this album at $8,000. Hard costs include at least $4000 for the studio/engineer, $2000 for backing musicians: $1000 for mastering, and $3000 to print the CDs.
Clearly it's not all of the money needed for this album, but it's enough to get started. And since Kickstarter is an all or nothing platform it's the hurdle I need to hurdle to make this record a reality. But - if we don't hit the funding goal by the deadline, no credit cards will be charged, I will not receive any funds.
Whatever contribution you can make, be it a few dollars or just spreading the word about this project would be a huge help. Thank you, and I can't wait to share this music with you!

Caitlin Canty is a Vermont bred, NYC-based singer/songwriter. She performs regularly with her trio and with the string-rock band Darlingside in music halls, cafes, and festivals across the US. Prior to Neon Streets (2010) co-produced with Darlingside, Caitlin independently produced several EPs and one full-length album, Green (2007), which she recorded and mixed in her home studio.
