About this project

Please help send me to New York for my travel and food blog Roaming Tales.

During my trip to New York I will create and publish the following on my blog:
- a daily photograph
- summaries of conference content and conversations to help people who can't attend

Within three weeks of my trip to New York, I will create and publish the following on my blog:
- an edited video
- at least one post from each of the five boroughs
- two restaurant reviews
- a hotel review

My theme for the photographs, video and non-review blog posts will be animals. Not the most obvious thing you associate with New York, but I have a few creative ideas of how to fulfill this!

I will time the trip so I can go to the TBEX (Travel Blog Exchange) conference in June. I couldn't go to the first event last year because I was living on another continent. Now that I'm in the US, I would love to go to this year's event. The only problem is that it's on the other coast and New York is not a cheap destination.

I'm not crying poor but travel blogging doesn't make me any money and I can't justify spending the money on a hobby. This is not about charity, it's about finding new ways to support travel blogging.

Kickstarter is about supporting creative projects. Roaming Tales is a creative outlet and a passion project for me and I believe attending this conference will make it better. This project may not help save the world or support the creative endeavours of the next Georgia O'Keefe. But I try to be generous in my daily life and believe what comes around goes around. I have met many people through blogging and social media. Some of you I have met face to face, while others I only know virtually. If you would buy me a drink if you met me face to face, perhaps you would consider donating to this fund?

Going to TBEX would let me meet other travel bloggers face to face, give me inspiration and guidance to improve my blog, and allow me to visit a couple of other dear friends in New York. By supporting this project, you'll be kicking in the funds to cover the $300+ airfare (or other transportation) and offsetting the cost of accommodation and food. Thanks to Darren Cronian of Travel Rants, I have a ticket for the conference.

As well as helping get me to TBEX and helping fund great content on Roaming Tales, you will also be demonstrating that I can make Kickstarter work for me. This could help down the road if I get publisher interest in a book proposal that I am working on.
