Jeweler collaborates with furniture designers to capture negative space! Also uses 3-D printer to turn benches into baubles. What will they do next?
Hi! I'm Natalia, I'm a jeweler and I like to capture negative space. Though I'm inspired by architecture, my pieces are usually small and wearable. This November, I have the opportunity to take part in a gallery show and do something much bigger!
To realize my idea, I've decided to collaborate with Brooklyn Mammal, a local furniture company. Mike and Adam use recycled lumber to make unique and beautiful furniture.
For the show, we are creating a cluster of benches, stools and other smaller pieces, and I am going to use steel to create frames around the negative spaces inside the cluster. I'm also going to use a 3-D printer to create miniature versions of the furniture clusters, turning stacks of stools into wearable art.
We've built the models, got all the materials ready and just need to raise a little extra money for production and installation.
I'm realy excited to make someting bigger than a ring and I hope you'll join me in making it happen!
Stay tuned for updates on the show dates (roughly the second week in November) and an invitation to the opening.
