Well, our Kickstarter campaign ends in a few hours, and we didn't make it.
However, we received such amazing support from so many folks, by no means is this a loss. As thanks to all of you who've pledged or followed us, here's one last classic, out-of-print download of straight NOLA gospel: The Southern Bells' take on "Sit At His Feet And Be Blessed". Joe, David and I certainly feel that we have been. Certainly feel free to keep up with us as we continue to work on the project:

"I Sing Because I'm Free" | The Southern Harps Download
When Sr. Audrey Ferguson of the New Orleans Spiritualettes and the Voices of Distinction went to church as a girl, The Southern Harps were members of her congregation. And when they were called to sing, these ladies would stand and from wherever they stood, begin to blend their voices. "Whenever the lead singer would hit the theme, there'd be a voice come from the front, one from the side -- over here, one from over there ... it was something to behold."
To a one, the members of today's NOLA quartets still call The Southern Harps the premiere quartet of the city back in the 40's and 50's. This track is from Lynn Abbott's collection, and features a young Bessie Griffin before she went on to the Caravans and her own solo career. This song definitely will make an appearance in By and By.
