About this project
The Writing Life is a documentary produced by Burnt Twig Productions. We are a team of two, who work as graduate assistants in our MFA program in Connecticut. Our film explores the process, eccentricities, and motivation of working writers "on location" at their homes and work spaces. (Expected Release Date: Summer 2012)

The Writing Life was originally conceived as a grad school project. What began as a small undertaking has transformed into a coast-to-coast excursion to discuss the writing profession (or is it a calling?) with some of the best living American authors.
This is not a how-to film or a series of esoteric, intellectual ramblings. It's a narrative about people who have chosen a creative path, and the risks and rewards of defying the status quo.
What does a writer do?
It's a simple question, but everyone seems to have a different answer. Please pledge what you can, and be a part of the conversation.
FAQ
-
No. Burnt Twig has captured tons more footage and the documentary is being shot in HD; however, due to file size limitations, we can't upload a high quality five minute HD video.
-
We get nada. Kickstarter is an all or nothing crowdfunding site. So, it is just as important to pledge as it is to spread the word.
-
Because we care. The DVD will most likely be the last material good produced from "The Writing Life." It is important to us that you receive something for your pledge at the end of this fundraiser. We are not asking for hand-outs or donations; we are pre-selling goods. There will come a time when we will sell the DVD directly, but you deserve to have something in hand in a timely manner.
-
The Digital Downloads and movie posters will go out upon completion of the film as we begin festival submissions. The DVD will go out after festivals and screenings. Everything else will be shipped as soon as possible after the Kickstarter campaign concludes.
