About this project
Want to learn more about the game? Read our interview with Nerd-age.com to get all of the juicy details.
Summary.
Playable online, Notch is an open world steampunk MMORPG that allows you to collaborate with other players and build an entire world from scratch. Instead of killing boars or delivering magical amulets, you'll be creating your own villages, cities, religions, and even governments. As you progress in the game, more advanced buildings will become available to you, going from farms and mud houses to holograms and space stations.
Why is it unique?
Notch is the first MMO in history to have its own location-based social networking application. By carrying around a mobile device (iPhone, iPad, and Android), you'll have the ability to check in (like Foursquare) at different locations to earn money and XP. The money and XP is then automatically updated online and can be used to purchase new in-game items such as buildings, scenery, and clothing for your character.

Rewards.
By pledging (over on the right) for either The Compass, The Opal, or The Golden Glove, you are able to unlock 1 mysterious power and 3 unique gifts within the game. What will you choose?

You can also get posters, stickers, wallpapers, and even a 16 GB (White or Black) iPad 2.

What the money is for.
By supporting this project, you're helping us build something immense!
All of your contributions will go towards:
- Artwork. We want to make Notch ridiculously beautiful. To achieve this, we're working with an extremely talented group of artists who have produced work for both Blizzard and Disney.
- Interface. Nothing's worse than not being able to watch your brand new T.V. because the remote is too complicated. We want to make sure we're providing the best possible experience for players by creating an intuitive UI.
- Growth. We're a small team with a BIG idea and a lot of passion. Your support will help us expand our squad so that we can get the game out sooner.
Continue?
You're now entering the mysterious and exotic realm known only as the F.A.Q. You may want to bring a scarf. It gets cold down there.
FAQ
-
Hello.
-
If Notch was a pizza, the private beta would be a hot delicious slice. It's essentially a limited version of the full game that will allow us to test features, get feedback, and take care of any errors or bugs.
We'll be launching the beta early 2012 (unless something horrible happens).
-
That's alright! If you're not comfortable with pledging you can still help Notch become a reality by simply talking about the game. Share through Facebook, Twitter, etc. It's pledge-free! Though, you should probably see a therapist about that.
-
Both. Notch will be playable within your browser which means that PC, Mac, and Linux users will all have the ability to play. The app is simply a way for you to interact with the game outside of your laptop or desktop.
-
Everyone who pledges will be given access to the beta.
-
Definitely. After our initial launch on the iPhone, we plan on expanding to other mobile devices.
