About this project

The Project Summary

"Come and show me another city with lifted head singing so proud to be alive and coarse and strong and cunning."

Hi, my name is Bud Rodecker. I'm a graphic designer at 3st in Chicago. In 2010 I started a project called RicharDaily. I challenged myself to make one thing every day for a year. One of the pieces that came out of that was a series based on Chicago by Carl Sandburg.

In the first part of 2011 I turned this idea into a full series. The first variation of this is on display in a group exhibition called Typeforce. If you're in chicago between now and March 7th stop by the Co-Prosperity sphere to see some great type work!

I would love to see this series turned into a set of silkscreened postcards and posters. The posters will measure 18" x 24" and be printed in 2 colors on cougar 100# cover. The professionals over at Delicious Design League are standing by, ready to put ink to paper.

Please help me give this work a life beyond my computer screen. Thanks!

The Posters

"Hog Butcher for the world" "Tool Maker, Stacker of Wheat" "Stormy Husky Brawling" "City of Big Shoulders" "Building Breaking Rebuilding"

The Goal

If Ode to Carl reaches $4,000 before the end of this project, everyone who pledged $10 or more will have their choice of getting the full set of postcards, or the basic elements as a font! Just imagine — you could type-set your own poetry, whenever you want! You could make street art, or confuse your professors. Forget label-makers — cover your stuff using "Carl Sansburg," a unique font only available to "Ode to Carl" backers.

The Shipping

I'll send out all the posters in cardboard tubes. Domestic and International orders will be shipped out via USPS First Class Mail. Shipping is included on domestic orders. International orders please add $10 for shipping.

The Money

All funds from this Kickstarter project will go to the production and shipment of this series.
