Risks and challenges Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
This book has certain challenges indeed. Since we are creating a one-of-a-kind "art book", the pages are going to be of a non-standard shape. Once the printing gets funded, that's going to need to be dealt with in the printing, the binding and the mounting of the custom metal cover. The metal cover is going to need to be machined, fit perfectly and attached effectively in a way that will last and stay solid over time. Also the metal needs to be treated and sealed so that it won't rust or have sharp edges that could cut someone. Luckily we are in Chicago and have a bunch of industry resources from the printing and machining industries that we trust. After years of working as "found art" sculptors, we feel we have the metal workers in place to ensure safety and longevity of the book. The printing is going to be handled by a family-run print shop that has been operated by the same family for over a hundred years. We've discussed the obstacles with them in attaching the metal cover and feel we are "ready for anything". Our budget allows for a few "one-offs" to ensure we have the print sizing, cutting, and mounting properly in place before we manufacture the whole run. An additional challenge is we have a number of mailouts and sponsor incentive deliveries including possibly a full-size sculpture to guarantee. We've explored various shipping methods and "tubing" for posters, prints etc.. and recently developed a shipping method for the pieces with two national art transportation services. It's going to be work but we feel we have the answers to the challenges in front of us.
FAQ
-
After 40 years of being a hard working, dedicated artist, I took my skills at "ready made" art and applied them by using parts of things that were already designed. I've always been a lover of science fiction and the current political climate with the global banks and the illuminati and the forces that oppress the people inspired me to create an army that I wanted, one that protected me and not held back the free people's of the world. Hence the first "Warrior of the Apocalypse" named "Cobalt" was built and quickly followed by the now over 20 full-size scultures that stand at her side ready to battle for truth and honor. Part cyborg, part human, they are now here and growing in number everyday. I've been so delighted with the results and this art book is really a dream come true! - Bryan Sperry
