Back in late 2007, singer/songwriter Mike Leonard acquired drummer and long-time friends, brothers Sam & Mike Nevin to work on Leonard's new solo project, brushstrokes. The two recorded the [inertia fresh!] demo, alongside producer Fred Sladkey at Mudskipper Studios, Sladkey's home studio in Arlington, MA.

Two years later, Leonard and Mike Nevin reunited with Sladkey, recording brushstrokes' first wide-release, the ::hello, i am july EP, released in October of 2009.

After over two years writing and recording demos, Leonard has finished the project's first full-length album. With the absence of Fred Sladkey--who now works at a studio based in Brooklyn, NY--the duo will be teaming up with Sean McLaughlin, Owner and Producer of 37 ft. Productions, and Eliot Bayless, drum tech at 37 ft., and drummer of The Brightest Lights.

With little resources, and a lack of a touring band, this may be the bands last recording for quite some time. Leonard and Nevin will be going into the studio starting in November, and are shooting for a early Spring 2012 release.

We would be eternally grateful if you could in any way help in the recording and production of the album. Having been in quartets in the past, we know how hard it is to fund a record of good quality. Now, as a duo, we ask for aid in completing our project for five years running. The total cost of recording and duplication will run upwards of $4,000. If we can reach roughly half of that, an asking price of $2,500, we will be able to do this album justice and complete our project.
