The first print edition of the Brooklyn Occupant to be distributed on May Day, containing news about the Brooklyn Occupy movement.
Occupy Wall Street has changed the conversation in America. By calling attention to the imbalance of wealth and power in America, a few hundred protesters spawned a worldwide movement.
Across the river from Zuccotti Park, the members of Occupy Brooklyn are changing the conversation on issues of local importance -- the NYPD's Stop and Frisk tactics in Black and Latino neighborhoods, the Just Food Movement, the lack of affordable housing in our communities, and the budget cuts that threaten the public schools to name a few.
Brooklynites are coming together to fight for their future and the time has come to spread the word. The Brooklyn Occupant, Occupy Brooklyn's very own newspaper, is currently in production for its very first print issue. If we are able to raise $700 in the next 10 days, we will be able to print 1,000 copies for distribution at May Day activities. Your contribution can help us ready 1,000 others and help build the movement's momentum as spring begins.
Donate. And then, if you bring your friends out on May Day, you can hold up your very own copy of the Brooklyn Occupant and boast, "I'm one of the publishers!"
