A real-time strategy game with ninjas... on your phone! That's awesome.
The original Ninja Warz has been played by millions on Facebook as a casual and quirky game about building up a team of ninjas and using them to battle other real people's teams of ninjas. It was our very first game ever and we have a tremendous love for the world we created and the characters within that world. So now, we want to bring this world to a more hardcore audience in a totally different genre that we love - Real-Time Strategy on iOS and Android.
It's MAH MUNEY!! Why do you need it?
We want to build a really fun game - not necessarily a chart-topping mass appeal game. As you’ve probably gathered from who’s at the top of the charts, it isn’t often the really cool games that make the big bucks. Instead it's the games that reach the largest audience and are the easiest to be good at. Why is that? Well there are several reasons. But lately one of the main ones is that the people with the money know that super simple easy games sell. Since that’s not what we want to make, we won’t be offered any of that money... except for by you - the players that actually want a more intense and engaging ninja waring experience.
We want to try something really risky for us which is building in a whole new environment - Unity, and with a whole new style of art for us - 3D. Jumping to a whole new environment like this requires different kinds of talented people. We know these people. But they don’t currently work here. We want to give these great people jobs and have them forever feel indebted to you!
Plus we’d really prefer to make games like this. If we can find success this time, we’ll use Kickstarter again and again to make games that people WANT to see rather than just games that will be guaranteed money makers.
What if I like fire?
You should also consider yourself the accelerant - with your fuel in our fire we can market this game with the type of push you’d see from a much bigger studio. That means that if we actually build a great game we’ll have the power to show it off to the people that may want to play it, rather than being lost in the sea of hundreds of thousands of apps in the app stores.
Why build on touch screen platforms?
There aren't currently any great RTS titles on touch screen devices - mostly because it's pretty hard to handle unit selection and order issuing and what not when you don't have finite pin point clickability. We think with our knowledge of building social games and our excessive experience with casual games as well as hardcore RTS titles, we can bring the greatest parts of real-time strategy to your mobile device without making you feel like you want to hook a mouse to your phone or tablet.
Well what is RTS (Real-Time Strategy)?
Real-time strategy games as opposed to turn-based strategy games involve taking actions and controlling an army while a battle is going on with nothing interrupting the action. Conversely turn-based games continuously stop the combat to let you make a decision as to how to proceed. It’s harder to build, but we like real-time strategy better. Besides, ninjas don’t take turns.
So what happens if we make our goal?
As soon as we’ve reached $285,000, we’ll begin the concept phase for Ninja Warz. Taking some inspiration from great RTS titles of the past and combining it with our unique world, we’ll create a plethora of characters and creatures to be controlled within the game. We’ll also lay out controls and mechanics specifically designed for touch screen devices.
Next concept art and prototyping will begin and quickly give way to the final components that will make it into the game. Finally we’ll thoroughly test and refine until we have a perfectly polished gem of ninja battliness.

What happens if we exceed our goal?
Should we be fortunate enough to not only reach our goal, but exceed it, there are several great things that could come as a result. This could include everything from a greater variety of units with deeper game play and mechanics to a more aggressive marketing strategy. And, if we REALLY exceed our goal, we may be able to release this new version of the game on Facebook as well as other platforms!
