Dear friends,
I want everyone to know that the album is done. Recorded. Twice over.
We renamed the album. It will now be released as a self-titled debut of PRAIRIE EMPIRE.

Anyone who got STUFF should have gotten STUFF back during the summer. If you didn't get your stuff, please let me know. And I will send you more stuff.

Update #9: stumbling blocks, lord, the record is still coming!
Dear all,
In the past few weeks an issue has come to light with the good folks who recorded the project down in Marfa. While we are still on board, the scope and vision might change. It's hard to say. At this point the fellow who recorded us is having some unrelated issues and has had to put off working on the mixing process until further notice. We are not sure what this means in the big picture, but we will make it happen some way. Some how...
I don't know if anyone is super eager to get their hands on their kittens and shirts, but if this is the case just let me know and I'll be happy to send them before the record is actually done. Because Lord knows when this might actually happen.
We will keep you posted of developments.
In the mean time, please enjoy this track from the sessions and feel free to pop over to our myspace where some of the new tracks are up, as well. Different ones!

Update #8: Your information, pa-lease.
Dear all:
So we've decided to take up the offer the of the kind folks in Marfa, Texas and make our next record there. This means that we will scrap all the demos we have and set out at the end of February for a few weeks to bust it up with them.
Following that we'll head to Vegas, SXSW and maybe (maybe?) Hot Springs for the music festival season. But we shall see.
In the mean time, we're going to start working on album art and figure out who is going to be pressing the project. These are exciting times!

Update #6: Kickstarter goal met! But our touring machine is toast...
Hey everyone!
We are so so very happy that we have hit our goal! Seems that we have some very exciting things coming together for the record as well as touring in the next six months.
The sad news is that about 20 minutes after we hit our goal our car kicked it about 19 miles outside Flagstaff, Arizona. That said, we still have 11 days to go any any further funds will be used to get us back on the road. At this point we are not canceling any shows, but we've rented a car to connect the dots until our head gaskets are fixed.
But, THANK YOU to everyone who helped us meet our goal! Please help spread the word in these last few days.

Hey all,
Writing to you from frigid New Mexico... We are in the midst of tour and having a blast! Exciting news from Marfa based label start-up that wants to help record, promote and distribute the new album!
What else? A MERE $175 AWAY FROM OUR GOAL!
We'll post some live tracks from the road for all you backers, so if you've yet to toss $5 our way-- you will get those! Plus all the ones we have already posted.

originally from seattle, miss ashford made the move to new york in 2006.
her first full length album there, but for you, go i was recorded in her brooklyn bedroom and released on paris based waterhouse records in the spring of 2008. this album was self released in the united states in the summer of 2008.
thanks to kickstarter and some generous donors brittain will head to marfa, texas and record her new album in march of 2010.

Hi, Will-- you didn't miss it. There has been much back and forth regarding mixes and mastering and final cuts and and and etc. The long and short is that it's coming soon. In the mean time, you can download the album here:
