About this project

Bring It 2 Peter is a documentary film currently in pre-production that is based on the premise of delivering a piece of lost fan mail to iconic American actor Peter Fonda. In the interest of clarity, truth and bits of humor, please read on for a more in-depth description of this cockamamie adventure we're about to go on...and why we need your help to make it happen!

We've had a couple of people say that they didn't 'get it' (my dad being one of them - thanks Pa...ha) and truthfully, there's really not that much to get. When this project first fell into our laps, I analyzed and overanalyzed, looking for layers of meanings. I drove myself nuts.

The bottom line, though, is this: This letter literally fell in our laps a few months ago. We were charmed with the handwriting on the envelope, clearly that of an elderly woman and the vague but hopeful address of "Peter Fonda Fan Club, Hollywood, California". We hope someday that the woman who wrote this card comes out and sees that two random journalists from Minneapolis cared so much about her card, her love for Peter Fonda, and the thoughtfulness it takes to purchase, write and send a card to an actor that obviously made an impact on her life, that they made it their mission to make sure that it gets into Peter Fonda's hands and not the garbage.

I mean, come on, who hasn't written fan mail? I wrote fan mail to Claire Danes and waited in aching suspense until the day her autographed picture arrived in my mail box. That kind of magic still exists. In this jaded world, people still care.

And we saw an opportunity to make a difference in someone's life. Whether she ends up knowing or not.

Of course, as you can see from the trailer, we're not just bee-lining for Los Angeles. We're winding our way through Arizona and New Mexico on many of the roads Dennis Hopper, Jack Nicholson and Peter Fonda himself traveled in the quintessential road trip movie that made him famous. We're talking to people along the way about freedom, America, the weather, whatever comes up. We're taking a look into lives in different parts of the country and seeing how people live and what matters to them.

So, in essence, yes, we are just delivering a lost piece of mail to Peter Fonda. But we are also tapping into a little bit of something that can be so easily overlooked in this day and age - humanity.

Thank you to those of you who have donated to the project, and if you haven't, even five bucks will start a chain reaction towards helping make a series of dreams come true. We couldn't do this without you.

Mountains and Motorcycles,

Janelle and Melany

Janelle Sorenson is a writer first and wannabe everything second. She's traveled the country as a Tour Manager for a couple of rock bands and was convinced that she'd rather live in hotels and on tour buses than in one place for any length of time. From photographing national bands to writing for various news and entertainment outlets, Sorenson's experience with Honeyheart's first documentary Bring It 2 Peter has prepared her for the world of film.

On the other hand, Melany Joy Beck’s directorial debut began at the age of eleven with Bart Simpson and an 8mm camera. Using old school stop-motion, she buried, dropped from the garage roof and set fire to the yellow plastic figurine in a passionate plea for cinematic relevance. After a stint as a singer and guitarist in the nineties, Beck emerged in 2006 as a rock writer, hopping tour buses and documenting the backstage debauchery of fellow musicians for Curve Magazine.

In November of 2009, Sorenson and Beck met backstage at Chicago’s Rockhouse nightclub and decided to create things together. Their first project was a music blog called She’s Electric for Curvemag.com. Simple Parts will be their third and the second under their production company, Honeyheart.
