Just wanted to say I got a beautiful, gracious, kind response to my comment below -- I'll paste it in here. The truth is that I'd forgotten about the rewards info in update #16. In any case, I feel insensitive to have not acknowledged Shane's beautiful letter today -- it deeply touched me -- and want to apologize for my somewhat harsh remarks. I am in awe of the courageous pathways you are treading and honored that I could play a very small part.

We’re very sorry you’re frustrated regarding the rewards for “Bridegroom.” We have tried to keep everyone updated. I’m sure you saw update # 18 today on the anniversary of Tom’s death. The paragraph below is from an update regarding our reward situation. Since the situation hasn’t changed, we didn’t think it was necessary to repeat it. But you’re right. Since things have taken longer than we originally estimated, we probably should have posted the information again. We know we wouldn’t have been able to make our film without your support and we truly appreciate it. Let me know if there’s anything else I can help with.

We will post another update when we are able to start distributing rewards, but it will be sometime after the Tribeca Festival. We can’t send out dvds until after everything is worked out for the movie’s distribution. We are still in the process of creating poster art – which will determine the t-shirts, etc. But rest assured, you will receive your rewards. We will continue to keep you posted as we move forward. If you have any questions please free to privately message us and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Well Shane your letter made me cry; as has your love story. I have been following it from the beginning. Your video was shattering. Thank you for having the courage to tell it. You HONOR HIM by doing this; and somewhere out there he knows.

Hey Linda, Shane, et al -- I'm so happy to be a supporter of this project. I feel it's an honor. The film sounds amazing, I can't wait to see it.

On the other hand, I would very much appreciate an official statement regarding the rewards promised. Things happen and plans change, but without some notification of why the original estimated delivery dates have been postponed, and what the new timeline is for estimated delivery of rewards, I am left feeling a bit thrown under the bus. It's now May, rewards were promised in January... I think you owe it to your backers to keep us in the loop, even if it's just to say, "We're working on it" or "We don't know yet" or whatever.

Here's the latest from the producers re: the rewards mailing. I want to continue to have faith in them that they are loyal to their backers.

Dear Megan--

Just wanted to touch base and apologize about the delay with getting out the rewards. We are in the midst of making a distribution deal to get the movie out and hopefully spread the message to an even wider audience. We can't send out dvds until all that is worked out.

We did send several updates and e-mails regarding photos for the poster - the deadline for that was mid January. It seems that some of our e-mails ended up in spam folders. Again, we're very sorry if you missed it.

We will be sending another survey to make sure we have the most current mailing information for everyone, but it may still be several more weeks before you receive it. All we can do is apologize again for your frustration and thank you for your support - we would not have been able to complete the film without it.

It does seem strange that so many of us supported this project with our $$ and we are yet to see what was promised.
I am not sure if this is because Hollywood is involved or if it is just plan rude. In order for you to speak about how great the funding story is, really you should do the right thing! We should be the first to see the film, if that was one of our rewards!

I am one of the folks who couldn't upload their photo-IT DOES NOT MATTER. This is so much more then a photo of someone who gave some money. When this first started and I logged on it took me two weeks to be able to watch all of the loss video.The raw pain-loss-emotion was too much for me. I lost my partner-the love on my life-Jason after 18 years together. I feel that pain and loss everyday. So the small donation I made was not only for the project; it was also for my Jason.
