Brian Siskind to perform site-specific composition at the Rothko Chapel in Houston, TX, and produce/release a live CD of the concert.
This program will be a guided sonic meditation, acoustically tailored for and in reverence of the sacred space of the Rothko Chapel. From documented rituals of Bhutan monks in Brooklyn to the birds in the ruins of Pompeii and an alternating portrait of rural and urban life from across the United States and Europe, the resulting works are a portrait of not only Siskind’s perspective, but the collective experience.
The performance will be an 8 speaker installation in the shape of an octagon, in concert with the shape and architectural intent of the Rothko Chapel.
The money raised will cover:
- Round trip airfare/equipment cartage from New York City to Houston - Rental/delivery costs for sound system (8 speakers, poweramps, mixing console, etc) - Recording, production and pressing of a CD release documenting the performance - Costs for personnel at the Rothko Chapel during the performance (security, reception staff)
