About this project

This summer I will be touring the U.S. in support of my new record, The Stars, The Moon, The Owl, The Cougar, and You - a stark record addressing subjects such as relationship, sanity, seeing friends flounder in addiction, and personal freedom.

I will post dates here and on my myspace and website as I continue to book the tour.

I will also be filming while on the road for my short film series due out in 2010, Roses For Maya Deren. Maya Deren was the first female filmmaker in American Hollywood, and with my tribute I will bring attention to her work as well as my own.

My tour will culminate in a two-weekend workshop study with acclaimed performance and jazz artist Meredith Monk in New York. www.meredithmonk.org

The funds raised will go to travel expenses, accommodations (unless I find friends to stay with in every town!), and help pay for my study with Monk. Amounts that are pledged over the goal amount will be put to good use helping fund other artists on my record label, Tiger Friends Collective.

For participating, you may receive your name read aloud in my Thank You Video for my Kickstarter backers, a copy of my record, posters, artwork, a combo pack, a combo pack with a signed photo print, and a combo pack with a personal letter from me written at a coffee shop early in the morning, Pacific Standard Time.

You can check out my website at www.briannaleapruett.com.

A singer from her earliest days, Brianna's childhood musical education included Raffi, hymns of pioneer days, The Chieftans, Emmylou Harris, Doc and Merle Watson, Bonnie Raitt, and Tom Waits, as well as a strong classical background.

Exposed to the music of U2, Sinead O Connor, Rush, Duran Duran, R.E.M., David Bowie, Peter Gabriel, and Daniel Lanois, Brianna's world intertwined these various influences with folk songs from dust-bowl era Oklahoma, passed down through generations of migrant workers, sharecroppers, and porch singers.

Pruett has recorded two albums which have been minimally released, and has played regularly up and down the west coast, sharing stages with Jonah Matranga of Far and Gratitude, Jacob Golden, Sean Hayashi, Mark Kozelek of Sun Kil Moon and Red House Painters, Two Sheds, Ruebi Lynn, Nick Jaina, Coal Beautiere, Karl Blau, Lady Lazarus, and others.
She is a student of native american flute with 2-time Grammy award winning musician Mary Youngblood.
