50 Characters in 50 Weeks
Project by Brent Rose
Project by Brent Rose
Friends,
As of today there are only eleven days left until my Kickstarter campaign expires. So many mixed emotions on the subject. We've come far (raised almost $1,900), but we have much farther to go (another $8,100) and in only ten days.
CAN it be done? Yes, it's possible, but without your help I assert that I won't be done. Now don't get me wrong, I am going to spend much of the next 11 days doing absolutely everything I can think of to try to get more people on board, I promise that, but I'm only one person. If this is going to be a success, I really need every one of you to send emails to your friends. I need you to do some out-of-the-box thinking, too. Got a favorite blogger that you always read? See if you can get him/her to do a piece on 50in50. Got an in with a newspaper, magazine, or something like that? Reach out to them. Got a millionaire uncle, mother, father, grandma? Talk to them about 50in50 and see if they'll pledge support... see if they'll set up a challenge grant!
Why? Why is this important? Why should people fund this? If I've already made twenty-five episodes by myself, why should I need funding to do another twenty-five? All valid questions. The biggest difference is that I want to compensate the actors and crew who have been so generous with their time. The money you pledge isn't just going to me, it's going to go to a whole host of talented performers and professionals -- you won't be supporting just one artist, you'll be supporting DOZENS. I'm also going to upgrade my equipment to make each episode look and sound absolutely professional. I have some ideas that I'm really excited about, but which are really ambitious, and without some sort of budget (even a small one) it won't be possible to make them.
You may also notice that I've uploaded a new video and changed the Kickstarter page. The new video isn't particularly funny, but it's much more straight forward. Do you prefer this one, or the old (70's PBS pledge-break themed) one? Would love your input.
So, it's crunch time. It's not quite the 11th hour, but it's the 11th day, and considering how far we've got to go, we're going to need every minute of that time. Can you, will you help? It's not the impossible we're trying to achieve, it's merely the unlikely.
Thanks much, and more soon!
Best,
Brent
