About This Project:
For the fourth year in a row, the students and faculty at East Hollywood High School are making a feature film. This time around, we're taking on that Titan of Western literature, Homer's The Odyssey.
And just for an added challenge, we are transposing the story into the far future with space ships, pulse rifles, robots, and far away planets. It's going to be sooo sweet.
Funding:
We have already started production, but our meager funds have run out and we need your help to finish the job. Why does making movies have to be so expensive?! We're doing all we can to keep costs low, but with so many locations and props and costumes and sets, it all adds up.
As everyone knows, public schools are allocated less and less money each year for arts education. Our film program provides not only intense art and media experience, but also training for real-world jobs in an authentic work situation. Your donations will enhance both of these goals by allowing us to upgrade equipment to professional levels, transport more students to exotic filming locations (i.e., Goblin Valley, Utah), build original sets, and create working robots, guns, and spaceships. Okay, so they won't actually work, but they'll look like they do. The school pays the teachers' salaries, so 100% of every dollar donated goes directly toward the completion of this film and will greatly enhance the students' experience. Our primary cast and crew will leave our production primed and ready to get to work on a variety of creative endeavors, and to shine as the best-prepared working artists in their college programs.
