About this project
The Ruler Pencil: it's a Pencil and a Ruler in one.
It's a ruler and a pencil all in one. It's simple, it's obvious, and it's the brainchild of an eleven-year-old named Nathan. You can help him make it happen.
We're a design firm in San Diego. A few weeks ago our 11-year-old friend Nathan sent us this adorable email:
We cajoled him into sharing the idea, which was this:
Shortly after that, Nathan emailed again with this important message:
We can help!
and we love to encourage this creative, entrepreneurial spirit in kids.
We realized that Ruler Pencil is not only a good idea, it's actually quite do-able. We helped Nathan find a manufacturer that would custom-print a ruler on pencils for him, but they've got a minimum order of 1000 pencils - more startup capital than he's got in his piggy bank.
Nathan's been planning it all out, but we're helping him with the actual production, design, and fulfillment. And you can help him make it happen, through the power of Kickstarter.
Backer Rewards
We need to help Nathan raise $350 to get a minimum order. And if you contribute, not only do you help this entrepreneurial kid, but you get some Ruler Pencils!Here’s what our project backers will get in return, (besides the very good feeling of helping an 11-year-old make his dreams a reality):
- For $5, he'll mail you a package of 5 Ruler Pencils.
- For $20, he'll mail you a special package of 10 Ruler Pencils, and list your name on the ‘Special Founders’ list mailed out with each package of Ruler Pencils .
- For $50, he'll mail you a special package of 20 pencils, put you on the founders list, plus send you a custom drawing (he's pretty good).

Originally we planned on Imperial units (inches) only, but due to the great response, we're hoping to create the pencil with metric units (cm) as well.

Yep, the ruler gets shorter. All good things in life pass away, and Ruler Pencils are no exception.
