Showing our Appreciation with an Exclusive!
Hello to our generous backers!
The other Brainstormers and I really want to express our gratitude to you for getting us to our goal. Before I get to what we had in mind, here’s a little clarification about Puzzle Me!’s Setup:
Each player starts a game with 1 Red Puzzle Piece (in other
words, 1 piece with
4 connectors), and 2 Karma Tokens. I apologize that this was missed in our video; I’ve recently added this setup info to our FAQ section.
So what we have in mind is to include Special Red Puzzle Pieces that will be exclusive to our Kickstarter backers! So for those of you who pledged $15 or more (enough to get at least 1 copy of Puzzle Me!), your copy (copies) of Puzzle Me! will come with Red Puzzle Pieces that will not be available to anyone else!
Here’s the design that we’re thinking of putting onto the Red Puzzle Pieces:

The back of the puzzle piece can have a picture of our mascot – Octavio – saying “Thank you!”. Please note that because these Exclusive Red Puzzle Pieces are intended as starting pieces, it’s fine for them to have something on the back. In fact, making them easy to find in the draw pile will actually make setup easier.
The front of the puzzle piece will have a short, special message. Right now our mock-up says “Thank you!”, but that can easily be changed. Maybe it’ll wind up saying “Kickstarter rules!” Maybe it will say “Puzzle Me! Backer”.
You can help us decide what to write on the front! Please write a comment or send us a message telling us what short message you want to appear on the front of the Exclusive Red Puzzle Piece. The most popular message will likely be what we ultimately go with (provided it fits and our manufacturer doesn’t identify a complication we haven’t yet thought of).
Thank you again, everyone!

Right now, our team is leaning towards the suggestion of putting the Kickstarter logo - using its expected design - on the front of the exclusive puzzle piece. The back of the puzzle piece will still be Octavio saying "Thank you" to each of you.
The final decision will be made during the production process. But in all likelihood this is what it will be. Thank you for your comments, everyone!

Nice exclusive! We kicked around "The First Piece" since it would be a nod to this being a first edition and also it being the first piece used in the game. Like the idea of having a different backing - makes it easier to find (wish Galaxy Trucker had done that!). Can't wait to play the game, congratulations!
Creator Craig. on January 28, 2012
I think just having the different back with Octavio and the "Thank you" bubble is enough. Leave the front of it alone so it's not a distraction in the game.
Creator Stephanie Bryant on January 27, 2012
I agree with Leo on the redundancy. Plus I love the idea of having a mention of Kickstarter in the puzzle, so I can remember 10 years down the road where I got this special copy of the game!

Thank you for sharing your opinion, folks.
Creator Ilias "retrospect" on January 27, 2012
I think the words " Puzzle Me backer " or "Puzzle Me Kickstarter" look great.
Creator Leo Lalande on January 27, 2012
That red tile design is nice; but having "Thank you!" on both sides seems redundant. I find the idea of putting "Kickstarter backer" on the tile side to be most appealing; but I suggest doing Kickstarter as the logo per Kickstarter's style guide. I think that would be really cool.
Creator Anifanatic on January 27, 2012
It doesn't have to be words either! I think phrases like "You rock" won't make sense to someone unless you tell them about kickstarter and everything. If it said "KS" in Kickstarter's K and S colors, if it was a Heart, Octavio, or some combination of them.
Creator Dawn Boruch on January 26, 2012
i like the "Puzzle Me" backer!
Looking forward to it!!
Creator Diane Reese on January 26, 2012
Octavio already says "thank you!" on the back, and some of these games are for gifts, so I like "you rock!" -- it conveys gratitude to backers, but would also make sense for those receiving copies as gifts.
Creator sara peoples on January 26, 2012
"Thank you" may not make sense to all if we are buying extra to give away. "Puzzle me! Backer" or whatever still would be good perhaps?
Creator Adam Pate on January 26, 2012
I like "Thanks!"

@Ken Gagne: Sound advice!
Creator Ken Gagne on January 26, 2012
Keep it simple — I like "Thank you!" Or maybe "You rock" :-)
