Update #8: Bogwood Films does the 48!
Hello all,
While you are waiting for THE HIKE (which should be ready in a few short weeks), I thought you might be interested in seeing our entry to the 48 Hour Film Project.
It's a 5 minute comedy that I wrote and shot -- and that my wife Jessi directed. The entire production --- from concept to finished film -- was completed in slightly less than 48 hours.
Here's the link:

Update #7: T-minus 30 Days... and counting
Update #6: Good news -- back on track
Update #5: Delayed :-(
Update #4: Thank you!!!
Thanks to all of our extremely generous backers. It's been a long haul, but I am so grateful for everyone's support.
Now that we are funded, we're going into a heavy-duty post-production mode with the goal of completing THE HIKE over the next 4-6 weeks. We have a lot to do, including the final edit, music, sound, special effects, and more.
If you are interested in following our progress on THE HIKE -- and seeing the finished film, please visit our website: http://bit.ly/8cmHmd
There you can join our email list or friend Bogwood Films on Facebook.
You can also learn more about the feature film we're working on after THE HIKE.
Thanks again and Happy New Year!

P.S. The photo is of the Sandia Mountains -- not too far from where we shot THE HIKE. Shot today (New Year's Day).
Update #3: Thanks! Please spread the word
Thanks very much to our newest backers: Andrea :-), Elizabeth, David, and Inhye!
Please spread the word among friends and family. Post to Facebook, Twitter, etc. I really want to see if we can get a few more folks on board -- because I'm really excited about building a mini-community around the Hike -- and getting your input on the upcoming feature.
As promised (but a little late). Here is a very, very brief snippet of raw footage. Keep in mind that this is right off the RED camera with no color correction or anything. Our DP, Dave Garcia almost killed himself getting this shot. :-)
Update #2: Wow! 100% Funded! Thanks very much!!!!
Thanks for the swift and powerful show of support Victor, Peg, and Duncan. I really appreciate it. Because of your generosity, we are now 100% funded and I can say with certainty that THE HIKE will be completed.
Next week I'll post some of the raw footage -- in case you are curious. Plus lots more updates to come.
We still have until the end of the year before our Kickstarter project closes, so we'd welcome any additional pledges. All funds go directly into improving the production quality of the film -- so you still have a chance to make a big difference with THE HIKE.
If you can't pledge, but are interested in keeping in touch or hearing about our progress, please friend us on Facebook or join THE HIKE mailing list. You can do both right here: http://bit.ly/4J5wah
best,
Randy
Update #1: The Secret Puzzle has been solved...
... by our very first backer, Dave LeCompte (an X-Files fan, BTW).
Thanks very much to Dave and the other early backers: Jeff, Dan, Stephan, and Lance. You guys are awesome! (Dan, please email me directly).
Also, much thanks to Kickstarter for selecting us as Project of the Day. Your support means a lot. :-) Even if you accidentally refer to our project as "The Heist."
best,
Randy

I guess I should have mentioned the solution to the puzzle.
1663 refers to the P.O. Box 1663 -- the secret address of The Los Alamos National Lab (where the h-bomb was developed during WW2). According to the Lab, "During World War II, all that the outside world knew of Los Alamos and its top-secret laboratory was the mailing address—P. O. Box 1663, Santa Fe, New Mexico."
Babies born at Los Alamos during WW2 had "PO Box 1663 Santa Fe" listed as their place of birth on their birth certificates.
Clues in the video include the words "Site Y" and "The Hill" -- which were code names for Los Alamos during the war.
Today scientists Los Alamos National Labs work on a lot of different projects -- including nanotechnology. It is also home to a large particle accelerator.
One of the characters in THE HIKE is a ex-Los Alamos scientist who quit the lab under questionable circumstances and is now focused on cryptozoology.
More soon...
