Update #4: EXCITING NEWS!

Posted on January 24

I'm jazzed all over again! Today, Jan. 24, Storming Sedalia was named a quarterfinalist in the Fresh Voices Screenplay Competition. This is my first completed screenplay and the first contest I've entered, so making the quarterfinals of a respected competition seems like an accomplishment. Out of nearly 1,000 entries, it's among the final 33 in the Drama category. Semifinalists are named Feb. 21, and winners in March. So thanks to those of you who have already supported me here. And I'm going to ask you a favor. Keep spreading the word. I've only got 6 days left to make the goal or the project won't be funded. I'll still get it done, but it will take far longer if I have to save the money from personal funds.

Thanks for your support;

Update #3: WE'RE GETTING NOTICED

Posted on January 12

Storming Sedalia is beginning to build steam as this project approaches the halfway point. A screenwriting blogger, who himself has had movies produced, has mentioned this project on his blog and included a link. And somebody else is checking to see if a rather successful documentary filmmaker they know can help in any way. So if you're somebody just browsing through Kickstarter, jump aboard, the ride is just beginning!

Update #2: Sweetening the pot!

Posted on January 8

I've decided to boost the rewards to try to jumpstart interest in the project. So today I added music to all the levels except the most basic. These are the bands that dominated the classic rock era and are making something of a comeback today. Pledge $21 or more and I'll provide you with Amazon gift codes to download music from the script! Some rewards even include blank CDs in jewel cases for burning. The higher the level, the more music you can download.. All the way up to the numbered limited edition Mother of All Soundtracks!

So warm up those credit cards and get ready for some rock!

Update #1: Off and running!

Posted on December 31

Wow!

Susan, thanks for being my first backer on my first project! And so quickly too.

I see you just joined on New Year's Eve and picked me as your first project, so we're virgins together at this.

I'll try my best to live up to your confidence in me.

I am a former sportswriter and news editor, who retired early, in part for medical reasons. I'm 59 years old, but my friends say I act like an 8-year-old, so I guess that's in dog years. I don't feel like a sick, decrepit old person and I'm not ready to sit on the side and watch life. I've decided not to moan and be sick, but use this opportunity to pursue the dream I never got around to, which is become a screenwriter. My monthly stipend covers the basics, and I pound away daily with the help of my screenwriting software. Between sessions I go to the beach and seek solace and inspiration from the surf, watch the surfer dudes and basically immerse myself in the ambiance of one of the few unspoiled beach towns left on the Atlantic coast of Florida. I lived most of my professional life in the southern tier of states, covering sports and editing newspapers from the coast of Florida to the coast of California and a half-dozen spots in between. Grew up in St. Louis (Go Cardinals!!) and moved back there a couple times between jobs. My favorite pastimes (yes, there's only one s) are watching movies, reading (mostly adventure novels and mysteries), playing on the computer and live poker.
