Help BMOP/sound produce a double CD recording of Thomas Oboe Lee's six concertos for flute, oboe, piano, harp, violin and cello.
Hi! My name is Thomas Oboe Lee. I am a composer living and working in the Boston area.
In this video you will meet Gil Rose, Artistic Director of Boston Modern Orchestra Project, aka BMOP, violinist Irina Muresanu, and pianist Robert Levin.
A couple of years ago, Gil Rose and I embarked on a project to record six of my concertos:
1. Violin Concerto, opus 129 (2009) for violin and orchestra
2. ... bisbigliando ... (2009) for harp and orchestra
3. Piano Concerto ... Mozartiana (2007) for piano and orchestra
4. Persephone and the Four Seasons (2006) for oboe and orchestra
5. Flauta Carioca, opus 90 (2000) for flute and orchestra
6. Eurydice (1995) for cello and orchestra
Four of the soloists are orchestra members of BMOP: flutist Sarah Brady, oboist Jennifer Slowik, harpist Ina Zdorovetchi and cellist Rafael Popper-Keiser. The remaining two soloists in the project are violinist Irina Muresanu and pianist Robert Levin.
All six concertos will show up on a double CD set on the BMOP/sound label.
The recordings are done and they sound fabulous. Four of the recording sessions were done in Mechanics Hall in Worcester, MA, and two in Jordan Hall at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. Both halls are renowned for their superb acoustics. Gil and Joel Gordon, audio engineer, are currently in the editing stages of post-production. The double CD set will be ready for release in February 2012.
But before BMOP can release the CDs we need to raise $12,000 to help pay for the remaining costs of post-production: sound editing, CD mastering, cover design, liner notes, and manufacturing of the double CD set.
On the Kickstarter page for this project I have listed a number of rewards available to supporters of this project from $5 to $2,500. Please check them out on the Kickstarter page for more information.
I hope you will be generous and help us out with anything you can afford to make this project a reality.
Thank you.
