Hi There,
This is James and Lisanne writing.
Well, today is the big day. Today, Indie Game: The Movie is releasing to the world! This day has been two years in making :)
Working on this film for the past two+ years has provided the most challenging, fulfilling and life changing experiences our careers. Seriously, words really can’t express how much this film, and making this film, means to us. We wanted to take a moment before/during the craziness of launch day, to say a heart-felt Thank you.
None of this would have been possible without the online support we and the film received. Not only things like the actual Kicksarter funding itself, it goes well-beyond that. From day one, the idea of this film was warmly received by many, many people. That reception played a massive role in giving this film life and bringing it into existence.
So, from the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU so much. Thank you for your interest, your support, your tweets, your good vibes, everything. It means a lot and has made a real difference.
Very soon you will be able to see the film, and we really hope you like it. We hope that it was worth your early support, trust and attention.
And we hope the experience encourages continued support for other artists. People took a chance on us, and we hope this film encourages more people to take even more chances on others.
The Internet is a powerful thing. It changed our lives and made this movie possible.
Thank You everybody. Thank You Internet.
Sincerely,
James and Lisanne
P.s. If you watch the film and you do like it, please tell a friend or two. The success of this film (and hopefully more like it) depends tremendously on word of mouth, any chatting / recommending you can do would be hugely appreciated!

So interesting to see how people perceive Kickstarter. The film was released over a year later than you originally anticipated when you listed the project, but this is the 51st project update: you kept backers in the loop every step of the way. There was a moment of frustration when I knew people at a film festival were seeing it before your original backers, but I know that's the way film festivals work.
There's no question that this, along with Double Fine Adventure, are the best Kickstarter projects I've ever backed. I love everything about the movie, the way you made it, and your incredibly detailed case studies on the blog. I've seen it three times, and cried every time. The best portrayal of the agony (and joy) of the creative process I've ever seen.
Thank you for taking the leap to develop it in the open, and for bringing all of us along for the ride.

So....2 1/2 years after I helped fund this product I finally have the DVD in my hands. And it pains me to write this, but I was not impressed by how this project unfolded. At the very beginning I was very excited, and watched with amazement as the movie garnered acclaim, widespread recognition, and, ultimately, was optioned by HBO. But as time went on I became increasingly irked by being on the outside of all of this - having put my money in at the very beginning, I felt like I was the last to see anything about it.
I watched it a few months ago on a stream, and didn't love it. I wanted to. I tried. But between the lack of overall narrative and Phil Fish's completely unlikeable character, I felt myself wishing the entire film had only been about Team Meat - two dedicated game developer, whose story was both touching and passionately told.
Today I picked the video up from the post office and was charged £11.15 for that pleasure, since inexplicably you shipped it as paid merchandise.
I really wanted to be a super fan of this project and the process that created it. Instead, I'm left feeling mostly cheated and disappointed.

James, Lisanne, congratulations on releasing the movie and its acceptance. I enjoyed watching the movie, and seeing how both of your personalities were deeply embedded in the sight, sound and feel of the movie is even more fascinating. I look forward to seeing more releases from you guys.

My wife and I watched it on release day and LOVED the movie so much. I watched the next night as well with a friend and planned to just play my 3DS while he watched it, but I ended up not playing my 3DS at all because I was so glued to the film. You guys have made a fantastic movie and I am so happy that I got to be a part of it!
