James Swirsky and Lisanne Pajot are producers/directors/editors/cinematographers behind the production company, BlinkWorks Media.
For the past year, they've been traveling North America filming indie game developers and editing their stories for Indie Game: The Movie, the feature film and the website.
Prior to this project, Lisanne and James produced TV series' for CBC in Canada, corporate videos, and commercials.
@Thom We like your style!
Hell yeah!
hi, ive got a request for you, it would help us both out. Please email me at nigel.moran@hotmail.com cheers
@jeriska. Thanks for the heads up! Tommy's awesome. We got a lot of great material from him in Santa Cruz - we hope to cut a little Tommy teaser piece sometime soon.
@Tony. Thanks! There are a lot more cool stories coming. Can't wait to put them together and get them out there.
@igotgunz. Thanks so much for the support & thanks so much for the offer! We're pretty set right now, but you never know, we may be bugging people in the future :)
Btw, there's a shout-out to Indie Game: The Movie from Tommy Refenes on the latest installment of the 1UP.com Chiptuned Blog, titled "The Rise of Super Meat Boy's Audacious Beats".

I can’t wait too see the COOL stories and game ideas that are coming out. The demo reel part is very cool for me; some times they get turned into movies or games in extreme circumstances.
Very neat idea for movie!
Awesome and inspiring idea! I can't wait to see the final movie. If you need help, don't hesitate to bug me. I was thinking of taking a trip across USA around the same time.
@gingerbeardman Just downloaded the game - looks slick :) Also, going to do some more reading up on the team and research - Thanks for the lead!
@Kelly H. Thanks so much! We really appreciate it! We'll definitely put it to good use. We have some exciting things in the mix right now, can't wait to share more.
You guys need to interview the guys behind the Babylonian Twins game.
Sorry, I forgot that I already asked the same question in this project already ... :P
Hello, Is International shipping included in the pledge ammounts?
I'm excited for this, thank god I finally got paid so I could pledge some cash. Good luck!
@nicketas Thanks for the nice comment! That's exactly what we're trying to do...and yes, that treatment is long overdue.
@team halderson Thanks for the support, and we appreciate that you've looked at James' previous work!
This.
Looks.
Incredible.
A film like this that really tells the human and artistic side of game development is long, long overdue.
Excellent. I look forward to it.
Swirsky is a brilliant filmmaker! We enthusiastically look forward to the finished piece.
@Joeshon Thanks, we're glad that comes through. Being an Independent Film Production House, we have a huge affinity for Indie Game Devs.
One of the main things that drew us to this project was that we see Indie Devs as somewhat kindred spirits to ourselves and how we work. In many ways telling an independent game developer's story is telling a more universal story about 'independent creation' - which we can't help but be passionate about.
Thanks for the comment!
@Shane Wegner Awesome to hear, thanks! And If you like your movies with a little bit of Holowka & Flashbang flavouring - you shouldn't be disappointed with this film :)
@Israel RN Yes - Shipping is included :)
I can really see the passion in this project. Looks like a great film.
Are shipping charges included, or they are extra?
The fact that a lot of guys I know are in the video is all the more reason to chip in! I really like what I've seen so far. I caught one glimpse of the Flashbang Guys in Alec Holowka's piece.
Thanks, Joey!
This sounds like a great project so I made a pledge, hope it helps out, keep up the great work and feel free to keep in touch with me here:

Thanks for offer, Thom!
We are very excited to work game trailers in the credits (and on the website)! It'll be interesting to see all the diverse works when they come in...
Thank you for donating for a spot, Steve!
Micheal & everybody, if you know anyone with an emerging game & trailer, please pass on the link/opportunity!
Kerekes - We would love to come to Europe and talk to the indie developers there! Currently, it's not in the initial plans, but if we can swing it. We will definitely try.
Thanks for the kind comments & the recommendations!
Hey Megan,
We're making the film with the Canon 5D Mark 2. We've been working with HDDSLRs for over a year and we've been blown away by the images those little camera can create. James recently did a seminar on HDDSLR film production, his notes/links from that presentation are up at our blog at www.blink-works.com.
Thanks Jordan, Philip, Matthew & Emmanuel! We too were wowed at the support for the project! Thanks for spreading the word, guys!
Thanks for the suggestion, Jake!
David & Alexei -
Thanks for your support & your interest! We haven't solidified our distribution plan, so we're not sure how exactly it would roll-out. Right now, we're in the very early stages and we're looking at everything. Originally, we were hoping to get the film into some festivals, do some DIY screenings, potentially get the film on television and do DVDs. Our goal is to bring this amazing, creative indie world to a larger audience. We initially thought 'traditional' media channels, we're the way to go. But, maybe, we can reach lots of people in other ways.
Also, we're hoping to have a very open development process at indiegamethemovie.com. Check back there for updates.
Thanks again!
With the film now funded I won't be surprised if all the $300 spots are gone by the end of the week.
Was sold on that sample video. If there's anyone in Vancouver you want to talk to let me know.
Guess what game gets a trailer in the movie credits? Alpha Squad! www.dragondivide.com

Congratulations on funding the goal so quickly!
Awesome that you reached your goal! I love seeing fellow filmmakers hit their goal
and with over 2 months to go..very nice! Congrats and it's nice to contribute to Indie Films
with any money I have left..Who doesn't love video games?! :)
this looks amazing. may i ask what you shot this on?
Been keeping an eye out for this one
Well, this was quite fast, congrats. I thinks it's because of the quality of the trailer. It's quite amazing :) If you turn out to be well funded, you should consider adding some European guys to the list. For example the Italian guys making Naumachia, or Flavien Brebion who's coding an incredible space MMO (Infinity: The Quest For Earth) all alone.
WOAH! Congratulations guys! I honestly wasn't sure if you would actually reach 15,000 or not, but there it is! Man, I'm so excited right now!! What's going to happen over the next 61 days!?
Christ, 100% already?!
Grats and good luck with the remaining 61 days. ;)
Isn't Epic Games technically Indie? That may be something different from the rest of what it seems your going for, but, if you could get an interview, it would probably be an interesting segment about starting out and growing from an indie developer to a larger indie company, along with the problems and struggles
I was slightly skeptical until I saw the demo video. Extremely well done! I can't wait.
Question: is the video going to be free for viewing online?
I am very interested in this project, especially given the recent high profile Humble Indie Bundle sale which nicely showcased what indie game development can . I think it is the right time for a movie on the movement. However I am wondering what license this will be released under, being a big supporter of the creative commons naturally I am hoping for a suitable cc license. Also it would warm my heart if you could manage to talk to the developers of Achron (achrongame.com) as I think their project shows the kind of innovation that is only possible today in the indie sphere,
Backed! GLHF! :)
@xaq404, @Matt - thanks for the suggestions guys. Both are definitely on our radar.
We had the opportunity to see Wolfire's very excellent talk at GDC. Their open development process is quite amazing. It's certainly something we're hoping to emulate as we make the film.
Thanks again for the suggestions, please keep 'em coming!
@Mike, @Jordan, @ Chris, @Jake - Thanks so much for the encouraging words. We're really excited by the response and that people seem to like where we're going with it. Thanks!
@Aaron - Thanks for setting that up. It's very cool to see support pages popping up - we really appreciate it. Thanks.
This looks inspiring, awesome, and something I could pay to see, I pledged $17, and hope it helps, I want to see the succeed, one of the first things I actually felt like I had a reason to spend some money on.
