Update #9: "Blender" Books are Ready!

Posted on May 19, 2011

Apologies for the delay--

Finally I finished my book "Blender". It took one year.

I have some little excuses that I was in three group show, a residency and two solo exhibits since last spring until the beg of this year. It was so hard to work on the book project for me. (you may view some images from the exhibits: http://www.flickr.com/photos/hidemitakagi)

I'm very sorry and again "MANY THANKS!!" for your support that made this happens!!

You may preview book at http://www.blurb.com/my/book/detail/2189595

So what's next?

My project "Blender" was selected for Times Square Alliance Public Arts for 2011-2012. http://www.timessquarenyc.org/about_us/art_ts.html

We schedule to have "Blender" somewhere (now it's secret!) in Times Square district for this summer. I'll keep you posted!

All THE BEST,

Hidemi

Update #8: My apologies (again) and solo exhibit from Nov 18th

Posted on November 18, 2010

So sorry for the delay of book launching. Its almost ready but I couldn't make it by the end of Oct. I do seriously apologize. It's taking more time to get good color for over 80 pages of photographs and editing 30 texts pages. I do want to make it really nice.
Another reason, I was in many exhibitions in this year and got a photo gallery representation in UK, basically I've been really really busy, it was totally unexpected.

BTW.....
My solo exhibition "Blender" opens from today Nov 18th.
If you're around in NYC, and get a chance to come to Chelsea, please stop by. It'll run until Jan 24th 2011. The detail is here: http://www.artslant.com/ny/events/show/136412-blender
We have an opening tonight bet 6-8p.

The picture below is my latest work "Blender Kiosk".

"I built a Near Futuristic International Kiosk and converting it to a Cultural Stand, equipped with multiple imported products including candies, magazines and drinks from around the world all gathered in New York City retail stores in immigrants-heavy neighborhoods.

New York City is known as a Melting Pot. People from every country in the world meet here, more people are coming to New York everyday. I can easily imagine that 10 years from now the city will be more diverse. Even now, I have seen regular Newsstands at train stations selling international magazines and newspapers. i.e. the Newsstand at 86th street train station in Bay Ridge is carrying Mexican, Colombian, Polish and Chinese News papers along with American ones. So one day, we would be able to buy international goods at various Newsstands and subway stands in New York."

I include this piece at my exhibition.
Again sorry about delay.
I'll try to finish asap. Hopefully by the end of this year. Please forgive me.....Many thanks!

Update #7: My apologies for the delay of Book project

Posted on June 16, 2010

Hello,

I do need to apologize about the delay of my book project. I know I suppose to get it done by last month. I'm so sorry that I couldn't make it.

I've been extremely busy from my residency "lmcc swing space" (http://www.lmcc.net/residencies/swingspace/current_artists) on governors island since March and we had a big open studio event on June 5th & 6th, we all artists were just running around, being really busy working hard on the projects. And we are still going to have another bigger event from 23rd to 25th of July. I've been still spending a lot of time at the studio. Since my time is limited for this residency, I need to focus on finishing the project there. Also I'll have couple exhibitions from July to Jan 2011. That makes me busy as well.... ha---- excuse.....sorry....

Actually my book project is pretty close to the end. I think, 70% done so far.
I worked on images already and have been working on the texts.
Now I'm planning to finish this by the end of Oct 2010. I know its a long time....but I'll try to work hard!!
I'll keep updating. So please please be patient.

Thanks for your understanding!

Best,

Hidemi

Update #6: Rewards

Posted on April 15, 2010

Hello there!
I finished all mailing rewards to people who suppose to receive it, except Jehan who is going to receive the "Blender book" sometimes in next month and Yoko who is going to tell me her new address after moving to her new apt.
I think, some people even received it already.
If you don't get it by next Tuesday, please let me know. (contact@hidemitakagi.com)

PS. I'm still working for editing photographs and texts for the book.
And I'm having a studio residency on governors island until the end of July. So I've been pretty busy :)
