Back from Santa Fe, Blackout is ready to make another ensemble created show.  We're going to revisit a familiar tale, Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol", with a new approach to telling the journey of Ebeneezer Scrooge.

In our story, a group of seven travelers in the 1930's are stuck in a train station on Christmas Eve in St. Louis.  With nothing to do, they decide to retell the story of "A Christmas Carol," transforming the near vacant station into the world of the story.  The characters use what they brought, and what they find to make the story a fantastic journey for the whole family!  The show goes up December 2nd at the North Fourth Theater in Albuquerque, and runs four weekends, finishing with a Christmas Eve Special showing.

This show is going to be our most extensive production to date.  It has the longest creation and rehearsal time period, giving us time to refine and perfect the performance.  "A Christmas Carol" will also have a budget of nearly $10,000, with lots of funds dedicated to the elaborate set and puppets that will be needed to make the train station come alive.  The  show will have period 1930's costumes and props, and the script will undergo massive workshopping and editing to make our tale of Scrooge true to Dickens', but also telling it in a new way that will make it relevant to us, here and now, for kids of all ages.  

Our goal for Kickstarter is $2,000.  We need to pay for all the amazing lights, sound, costumes and puppets, not to mention costs of advertising, for the rental of the theater, and at the very bottom of the long list is paying our actors, designers, and crew a small stipend for their months of hard work and dedication.  With more than $2,000 from Kickstarter, we could cover our costs and pay everyone a modest stipend for their volunteering to bring the community this story of Christmas.
