Update #19: Shipping…
Whew, we finally made it!
OK, it's really official. The White Elephant Card Game finally arrived last week and we have been shipping it out all this week! We have shipped most of them, with just a few more left. A few people have even reported getting it in the mail already! And of course, those lucky backers who live close to me already received their copies of the game at the big launch party at Fongo Bongo Games. And for those of you who don't know Ernest at Fongo Bongo, check out the red number 10 card in the game. Yup, that's him!
The Mystery Box Promo
For those of you who received the Mystery Box promo I have a small change to the rules that I think improves game play. We found that when played as written in the current rules the Mystery Boxes usually didn't hold very good presents. I suggest you follow the current rules, except for these changes:
- Before looking at their cards players randomly select one of the cards dealt to them to be their Mystery Box gift, keeping it face down.
- Players place their Mystery Box card on top of this selected card without looking at it.
- The Mystery Boxes are then kept close to each player until it is their turn to select a gift first, and then they are the ones who bring the Mystery Box to the "party."
BoardGameGeek.com
For those of you who frequent Board Game Geek (and even those who don't!) I would encourage you to rate the White Elephant Card Game. Here is the link. Just scroll to the bottom under "User Information" and click on "add a copy to your collection," then click on "N/A" next to "rating." The rating is from 1 to 10. As a light family game I don't expect all 9's and 10's (though a few would be nice…), but the more people who rate it the more exposure it will get on the site!
One Last Thank You!
I really want to thank all of you one more time. This project has been a lot of fun, and it wouldn't have become a reality without all of your generous support! Please let me know if you have any questions, comments, or funny stories about the game - I would love to hear them!
Also, several people have asked if I have any other games coming out soon. Well, yes I do. I have a cooperative Super Hero card game that is currently being looked at by a publisher. I also have an adventure board game about that delightful dandy the Scarlet Pimpernel that is nearing the final play testing phase. I will most likely email you updates about these projects!
Anyway, please have a Merry Christmas and enjoy the White Elephant Card Game!
Thanks, Brian
Update #18: THIS WEEK!
Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! The White Elephant Card Game is arriving from China this week! That's right, this week! It makes me want to end every sentence with an exclamation point!
Fill out the survey ASAP!
OK, so here is the plan for all of the Kickstarter backers - I will be sending out a survey through Kickstarter so I can get your mailing address. I will send the games ASAP, so everyone should have their games in plenty of time for the holidays!
Local backers come get the game early!
For those backers who are local to me (Salt Lake or Utah Valley) we will be holding a special White Elephant launch party on Saturday December 3 from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the new Fongo Bongo game store in Riverton, Utah. The address is 1751 West 12600 South #100. We will be teaching the game and generally having a good time. Please join us to pick your game up a little early!

Update #17: Slow Boat From China…
I wanted to send out a status update on the White Elephant Card Game. I just received this picture from the printer in China.

This is called an "assembly picture" that shows how the finished game will look. This also means that the printing and assembly process is almost complete! So what's left? Just the long slow boat ride from China…
Thanks again for all of your support, I will keep you posted on the progress!

OK, the word is that the game is supposed to arrive from China THIS WEEK! I'm really hoping that Thanksgiving doesn't delay it at all. Either way, the plan is to start shipping the Kickstarter copies of the game next week!

Update #16: Printing Progress and A New Review!
We received the digital proof of the White Elephant Card Game from the printer a few days ago and I must admit…it looks spectacular! This photo was taken from the mockup, but I am really excited about the quality of the box and cards. This game is really going to look great! We don't have an exact date yet, but if we keep our collective fingers crossed it might make it by Thanksgiving, definitely before Christmas!

Also, if you have a minute take a look at this great review of the game from the Dice Tower. For those of you who don't know, the Dice Tower is one of the major game reviewers in the game industry. And by golly, they loved the White Elephant Card Game!
I will keep you posted as we get closer to receiving the game. As always, thanks for your support!
Update #15: Now Available For Pre-Order!
The White Elephant Card Game is now officially available for pre-order on the Mayday Games website. If you missed out on the Kickstarter campaign, or just want to pick up a few more copies, you can pre-order the game here.

Connected as Brian Kelley (68 friends)
Brian Kelley works as a graphic designer and marketing specialist for an Internet company by day, and as a budding game designer at night. His first ambition was to become a Super Hero. However, his only super power was dropping toast butter-side-down. Not especially useful.
Not being one to give up easily, his new ambition (OK, ambition is a little strong…let’s say “hobby”) is game design. As a member of the Board Game Designer’s Guild of Utah he has developed or is developing several new and innovative games. His latest creation is the quick and light family game White Elephant. If you haven’t supported it on Kickstarter yet, you really should…
Mine has yet to arrive. In fact, Tanga.com is listing the game as available even before I received my copy.
The games were sent between Monday and Wednesday last week, so they should arrive soon!
My copy arrived safe and sound yesterday! Thanks!
