Multi instrumentalist member of Kovacs and the Polar Bear releases his first ever solo album, under the moniker "Birthday Boy."
Hey I'm Chris. You may know me from an Asheville band called Kovacs and the Polar Bear, or from any of my other musical adventures. Almost a year ago I won a songwriting contest and was granted some studio time. This was a catalyst to finally get my songs together and make my first solo album. Well, that time is up and my album is almost complete. I need to raise $2800.00 to cover the last stages of production. This includes mixing, mastering, and pressing of the CD, as well as some promotional costs.
For those of you that aren't familiar with Kickstarter, it is a legit and safe way to help independent artists achieve their goals and continue to create the art you love. If you believe in someone and have always wished you could contribute to their success, here's your chance. I have supported a few of my friends' projects through Kickstarter, and the success rate has encouraged me to pursue funding for my own project.
For this project I have adapted the moniker, "Birthday Boy," and I think the music is just as fun as the name implies. My intention was to record an album of my most energetic and playful songs, a CD you would want to play before you go out on the town. The album is titled "Future Apartments" and it is riddled with catchy guitar riffs, danceable rhythms, driving percussion, cheap keyboards making priceless beats, and theatrical call-and-response vocal parts. Players on this album include: Kellin Watson, Nick Kovacs, Andrew Woodward and Joe Chang.
Going along with the "Birthday Boy" theme, funding for this album will end on February 15th, 2012, which just happens to be my 32nd birthday. So if you're wondering what to get me this year. . .
If you can only afford the minimum, I completely understand. Ever little bit helps. If you can afford a lot, well there's some pretty sweet rewards listed there.
