What is Birdopolis?

Birdopolis came about when a group of passionate game developers decided they were tired of the kind of games they found on Facebook. Why should social games all look the same, and make you do the same boring things? Birdopolis is on Facebook, but it's a far cry from anything you'd call a typical Facebook game. It’s a city-building game with a twist – your residents don't need roads or power grids. They need trees, gazebos, bird-sized castles and sunflower-powered teleporters. Birdopolis has mystery. It's got romance, suspense… and birds who dance to techno.

It's a game with attitude and lots of heart. In the great wide sea of big-name titles, we're a tiny indie studio with hopes of bringing honest-to-goodness fun into the social gaming sphere.

Birdopolis game play goes like this: You build the environment of every bird's dreams, complete with lush trees, bird baths, art studios, detective agencies, and more. As the birds in the area catch wind of your new place, they start flying in to check things out, but you'll have to win over their feathery little hearts before they'll call your yard home. And I'd keep an eye on that mad scientist bird next door...

We're really proud of Birdopolis. You can join the 100,000+ people who have played the current beta test version on Facebook right now. But it's far from done. We need funds to take Birdopolis to its full, awesomely fun potential.

The Goal 

Birdopolis is an ambitious free-to-play game. Our talented team is building an immersive, one-of-a-kind world for our birds, and we can’t do it without your help! We need funding to:

• Finish building the game. Right now, you can build your yard, spot the birds up close, watch them dance, and take their picture, but there's tons more to be done. We want our birds to raise families, build time machines, travel the world, and much more. We want Birdopolis to be truly unique, and truly fun.
• Create more bird characters. Our super-talented artists transform real birds into characters who wear everything from fedoras to bunny slippers - all while keeping their scientifically accurate characteristics. It's an amazing process.
• Allow travel to exotic destinations. You’ll be able to hop on a plane to see spectacular birds in the Everglades, Australia - you name it!
• Give the birds more killer dance moves. Each bird has a characteristic dance and perfectly paired dance music (and, occasionally, atmospheric reentry). It's a part of what sets Birdopolis apart from other social games.
• Love triangles. Yeah, our birds fall in love. And go missing. And play practical jokes on one another. Our storyline gives our game depth, and we want to keep it going
• Destructive harmonic resonance. Really. These birds are... fairly advanced.

Nuukster, the indie studio behind Birdopolis, is located in Cambridge, MA. We're a seven-person company taking on the heavyweights of the social gaming world with deeper content, hand-drawn art, and a passion for our craft. We are proud to have internationally renowned artist Gabor Szikszai (World of Warcraft, Magic: The Gathering) and acclaimed game designer John M. Astell as the backbone of the Birdopols team.
