Welcome to our Kickstarter campaign, we hope you will get involved and join us in bringing Edgar Allan Poe's famous poem, "The Raven" to life!

STORY SYNOPSIS:

"The Raven" is a famous poem by Edgar Allen Poe that vividly depicts a man's decent into insanity. He has lost the woman he loves and, as he ponders his loss, is visited by a raven that haunts him in his moments of despair. The original writing is in the public domain and can be found online.

THE VISION:

We intend to bring the film alive in the incredibly stylized world of steampunk, taking a classic story to the modern day audience.

The entire plot takes place in a single room representing his mind. With all the typical gears and pipes of steampunk, the room really has function and life that can be seen falling apart along with the character’s mind. The room itself is a challenge to create. We want to use as little CGI as possible, so we plan to build a full-scale set to shoot on.

Both the raven and the character are going to be almost completely blacked out. Using ultraviolet light, and fluorescent paints and tape we are going to make certain features of the character pop out with lighter colors, and the rest of him black. The actor is going to be shot separately on a fluorescent blue screen, in order to pull off this silhouette look in post-production. Then, he will be composited onto the set using camera match-moving and motion tracking techniques.

Unfortunately, the look we want for the film is very expensive and we can only produce a small portion of the bigger picture at a time. Hopefully this example video will give you an idea for just how stunning this film will look.

THE FUNDING:

In order to pull off such a huge task, like building a full scale movie set, and shooting on a blue screen sound stage with a professional crew we are obviously going to need a bit of help. We intend to bring the highest of quality to our audience and that does not come cheap, without the money this project goes nowhere.

We have already invested thousands of dollars in both Bog Flood Productions, and the project to help push it forward. But we simply cannot afford to do this one without your help.

PLEASE NOTE: None of the money we make from this Kickstarter campaign is a paycheck. We profit nothing, 100% of the funds raised go directly to funding the production of this film. Please also understand, you will not be charged, and we will have no funding if we do not reach our goal.

THE BUDGET:
If you’re going to be funding this film, we believe you should know exactly where the money is going. So here is our budget:
-Seattle Grip and Light, Small Cyclorama Studio (2100 sq ft)- $650
+ painting fees- $1,050
+ any over time at the studio
-Black light fixtures/bulbs- $1,000
-Fluorescent paint/tape- $1,000
-Steampunk Set (estimated at least)- $3,000
-Zeiss Cannon lens package- $200
-3D artist- $500 

And out of our own pocket (or any additional funds from Kickstarter) we will be investing in the actors, crew, and providing food. We do already own a good amount of gear, so we do not need to rent any grip, or camera movement/support equipment. And we will be shooting on two of our own cannon 5D mk ii's.

ABOUT US:

My name is Noah Martin, and for this specific project I am the visionary who brought the idea to my dad, our producer, and together we created this project. I have known film to be my future since I was about 7 years old. My family and fellow film-makers have supported me and pushed me in my craft, and now I intend to direct the most ambitious project of my career.
