To my wonderful friends and friends of the Big Fat Mountain project --

As the Rolling Stones song goes:

"You can't always get what you want. But if you try sometimes, you get what you need."

This Kickstarter campaign was about sharing Big Fat Mountain with the world, with the intention of completing the documentary.

While the fund-raising effort on Kicstarter was not successful, the publicity of it was. I have found a partner to help finish the project and do much more. I promise I will share details as they become available but after a number of meetings, I feel very positive about the outcome.

All of your shout outs, RTs, and bountiful messages of support paid off. Your credit cards won't be charged for pledges but I will be forever indebted to you for your kindness and warmth that have encouraged me along the way. Thank you!

First, I wanted to give you a huge thank you for joining me on this journey! I have been feeling so awash in gratitude to have your support!

There are 32 hours left in this Kickstarter campaign with a monumental amount left to raise. I am still hopeful about reaching my goal of completing Big Fat Mountain and sharing it with the world because anything can happen on Kickstarter... some projects have raised $1 million in a day!

If you didn't happen to spot this on Facebook, I'm now officially a blogger for REI (Hooray!) Here is my first post about "How I Got Started As a Plus-Size Adventurer"

Since the blog was posted on Friday, I have been overwhelmed with amazing notes and comments from people. Each one strengthens my resolve to tell my story with Big Fat Mountain.  

This is one of my favorites:

"I've gone from wanting to thru hike the AT to just plain being "Thankful" to hike at all. Big time Outdoorsman, 10 year Marine Corps Veteran, 10 year Football Standout player, to a very unfortunate series of health issues in which I've gained about 60 lbs in short amount of time. The overweight issue has had a huge negative impact on my life...basically leaving me with no confidence, limited abilities... I was really thinking of giving/selling all my stuff and giving into this weight problem....until I came across your story. Someday, Kara, we WILL share a coffee, tea, bag of GORP, something.... Just so I can look you in the eye and say "Thank You" for sharing and getting your story out there where people who Need to hear will hear it."
