We are working on a book-making project called BIG CLASS.
The book will bring together the very first stories of a class of 40 1st-grade students in Jefferson Parish, LA, and artists from all over the country who are illustrating their stories.
The book will be similar in form to a literary quarterly, and will be given to the artists and the students, as well as sold in independent book stores in New Orleans.
The goal is a project that will teach students that their words produce images and interpretations in others, as well as provides the artists with the jumping point that only 6 and 7 year-olds writing about "animals doing things they don't normally do" can provide.
This unique combination can (and has) resulted in tremendously entertaining work that we're excited to share with our community, but we need your help covering the printing and shipping costs, which are way higher than we had anticipated.
