Kickstarter

My name is Betsi Krisniski.  I would like to say I am here to make an album, but the album is made...the music, anyway.  I made it by myself.  I have 1 naked CD made with all the songs on it.  I have the packaging designed .  I need help to get those files of art made into packaging, and that 1 CD multiplied to more CDs.  And then, the plan is to put them together and get them to you. That last part is very, very important.

Partially due to being a control freak, my motto is DIY: All tracks on this album have been recorded via my own vocal setup, with my own recording equipment, in the places of my choosing (mostly my basement).  I played instruments (some for the first time), sang lead, harmonized, hit stuff to make the sounds I wanted, and used machine assistance only when absolutely necessary.  When I compose a song, I hear me and my guitar.  I hear a song in my head.  I want it to sound that way for you.  I apologize if that comes across as unpolished...think of it more as the 'organic route'.  I like organic.

I wrote the title track in one night and recorded it the next morning.  I knew when I wrote that song that I wanted an album to surround it.  Over months of performing 'Anchor', I have fallen more in love with the way it came out on that original take.  There are spots in the song I have attempted to wipe out in re-recordings...but at the end of it all, that song happened as I made it.  I felt it while I wrote it, and when I recorded it, it was still so raw that it is - in its own way - flawless.  I love it, blemishes and all.

Anchor, the album, is a collection of the most poignant "blemishes" I've had the past few years.  The songs concern ideas that I constantly return to, whether I want to or not.  They're about my hangups, people I can't forget and stuff that happens and you can't prevent...so you might as well write about it.

Here I am, making that music.  Writing lyrics.  Playing shows.  Busking with the Hudson Buskers...who imagines growing up to be a busker?  I adore it.  The cool thing about busking is that a passerby, just someone traveling down the street, from Point A to Point B, is suddenly surrounded in song.  They like the sound, they like the people, they like how it makes them feel...so they throw a dollar in the guitar case.

This is the basic principle here on Kickstarter.  If I can spread the word, and you can spread the word, and the word spreads itself, and everyone looks in their pockets and their piggybanks and their ashtray in their car and donates what they find, we are well on our way!  This is not ALL the money I need, but it's a big part of it.  I will take any amount, none too small.  If you want to donate change, shoot me an email: betsiwithani@gmail.com (I am not kidding.)
