Update #6: Messing Around after Four New Recordings

Posted on November 17, 2011

Another night of cranking out songs. Or rather, song foundations. Here's a glimpse thereof, warts and all.

Update #5: First Eight; Overtired Ramblings

Posted on November 15, 2011

Twelve hour work day, and "Everybody Knows This is Nowhere" on the commute home for inspiration. Finished 8th preliminary song foundation tonight. Photos show the instruments I've been playing and the exposed guts of the PC I'm recording on. Please note - a fully funded campaign will pay for new recording hardware; it will not break my heart to see this tower go. Oh, and the guts are exposed to let in the nice winter breeze. A lesser-known CPU coolant. Ha... Well. There you have it. And finally, talked to Jerome about what I'm calling a drum recording extravaganza, possibly as early as next week. Hooray!

Update #4: Cello Quartet in Poland, Spain, Czech Republic

Posted on November 14, 2011

After recording four new tracks tonight, I came across this dramatic video which uses my recent cello music. Have a look! This music was recently used as the audio backdrop for an event at Prague Castle, too. One soundfont can travel quite far, apparently! Hopefully, I'll have a chance to record real violin and cello on Nantucket Sound.

Update #3: Every Song Begins with a Sketch

Posted on November 11, 2011

One of the best parts of writing songs is the sketching phase. Today, I had a chance to sketch a few tracks in Audacity. And when these big blue winter clouds allowed, the sun broke through brightly, making the studio feel a little less cold. Here are a few seconds of a really basic melody that will become one of the sixteen songs on Nantucket Sound.

One of my all-time favorite uses of my music.

Thanks to my newest backers, posters, supporters and tweeters. Looking forward to showing some new studio footage soon! Stay tuned.
