Project 40 is a production of an adaptation of Herman Melville's Moby Dick during its journey from Chicago to New York.
Project 40 is the name of the overall project. The goal is simple, to be able to produce Moby Dick in Chicago during its initial incubator phase. Finally, we hope to move the project to New York by the time I am 40. That's four years.
Moby Dick will not only be a play about Capt. Ahab, Ishmael, and their adventures. Moby Dick will act as a voice to the ensemble as they explore one of America's obsessions, the thirst for foreign oil. The auditioned ensemble will then create a theatrical piece, using the script, interviews, and personal experiences to explore other options available as alternative fuel sources. This project is not a way to force a belief on the audience, but it is just one option. Whether you believe in the idea of whaling or you truly despise the idea, we at Lumpy-Cramp(c) Productions, LLC and Project 40, would just ask that you participate in the conversation. That's it.
Your donations will help fund the theatre rental space in Chicago, transportation for the actors to get to rehearsals, a costume, prop, and lighting equipment budget, and talk back sessions so we the cast and crew can meet you.

Every entity who pledges to Project 40 will be listed in the program as project funders. Depending on amount, opportunities exist to be listed as Executive Producers under the Lumpy-Cramp Productions, LLC company name. Many donors will receive free tickets to any of the incubator shows in Chicago.
