Post Production Angel

Update #21 · Mar 6, 2013 · 1 comment

Hi Again!

Now that we're in full swing with post, I wanted to share with you the angel who gave me the opportunity to earn the rest of the money we needed to fund our post production.

Jacob Krueger is an award-winning screenwriter and teacher who I've worked with in the past at both Script Magazine and The Writers Store. When Jacob heard IMPASSE was being held hostage by money woes, he called and offered his help.

In return, I'd like to ask you all a simple favor. For those of you who are writers or know writers, would you please spread the word about Jacob's amazing Costa Rica writing retreat? Filling the seats at his tropical retreat is my way of repaying him for his kindness and support.

Please forward the following message from Jacob to anyone you think might love a tropical writing retreat:

Have you ever dreamed of a writing getaway?  Ever longed for a place where the only thing that mattered was writing?  Then join award-winning screenwriter Jacob Krueger for a life-changing retreat of writing, creative exploration and meditation in tranquil Costa Rica.  Sign up by March 31st and mention IMPASSE when you sign up, and you'll get a free month of weekly one-on-one mentorship with a professional writing coach to get you primed for the retreat ($350 value)!  http://www.writeyourscreenplay.com/retreats

Thank you!

We're back on track!

Update #20 · Mar 3, 2013 · comment

To our wonderful, patient backers,

It’s been a while since we updated you on the progress of IMPASSE, and for that I deeply apologize. As some of you may know, we lost a vital team member to an untimely death just weeks after production. With that unfortunate loss, also came the loss of our funding to finish the film.

Not wanting to go back to the Kickstarter well for the remaining funds, I’ve been working tirelessly to raise the money for post. I’m delighted to say we have secured all the funds needed for post production and are back on track!

Eric Brodeur has been editing, and Rob Gokee will begin composing the music. We’ll soon be able to give you some sneak peeks at our progress.

Nothing thrills me more than to be able to get our little film back on track. This journey has been more than just an impasse for me personally; it’s been an experience that has defined my will power, determination and strength not only as a filmmaker, but also as a human.

On behalf of the IMPASSE cast and crew, I thank you for your patience and support.

Stay tuned!

URGENT: Screenwriter who is going blind needs our help! Only 4 hrs left!

Update #19 · Aug 24, 2012 · comment

Hello you fabulous IMPASSE backers!

Jack Marchetti, a Chicago-based screenwriter was born with a degenerative retina disease, cone-rod dystrophy, leaving him with a ticking clock as to how long he has to maintain his vision.

His dream is to direct his script, 4 OF A KIND, before he goes blind. His script was a finalist in PROJECT GREENLIGHT, so we're talking talent here, people. For the past few weeks, he's championed an heartfelt Kickstarter campaign, but now he only has a couple of hours left! If he doesn't raise the full $100,000, he gets NOTHING of the money pledged. Not one dime. He'll have to start this all over again.

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/jackm/4-of-a-kind-a-crime-thriller-set-in-chicago

I don't know about you, but I believe in the power of the indie film community and people like you who support us.

I wrote a piece on Jack's plight for Script Mag:

http://www.scriptmag.com/features/columns/balls-of-steel-screenwriter-losing-vision-but-kickstarting-dreams

If you've ever achieved the impossible, or wished you could, do it now... for Jack. For me. For all of us who dare to go after our dreams with everything we have.

Please, open your heart and open your wallet to help an amazing talent achieve his dream before he loses his sight.

I'll be forever grateful.

It's a Wrap!

Update #18 · Jul 4, 2012 · comment

We are delighted to announce our IMPASSE shoot was a great success this past weekend in Orlando! Despite flying in from all over the country, and most of us meeting for the first time, the cast and crew rocked it like we have been a team for years.

All hail Full Sail University for training our crew of gaffers, grips, AD, and PA. We could not have done this without their help. And a special thank you to Annie Lower, who came onboard just a couple of weeks ago to help us get all the crew we needed and some we didn't even know we needed. Luckily, Annie is one proactive talent who always has our backs!

Also, a huge thank you to Juliana Bellini, our on-set still photographer, for all the great shots. To get all the behind-the-scenes photos, "like" our facebook page and check out the albums. More pictures are waiting to be uploaded too.

Here's a peek at a PR photo Juliana snapped for us of Jennifer Fontaine and John T. Woods. They nailed the roles of Alice and Robert. Thanks again to Marci Liroff for helping us find Jennifer at the last minute!

We are so proud to have worked with such a great cast and crew. Kudos to all for their help bringing the words to life.

Wait until you see the incredible work our cinematographer, Nathan Blair, did on the RED Epic. Simply gorgeous and well worth the extra expense.

Thank you all again, from the bottom of our hearts, for supporting IMPASSE. We'll keep updating you through the post production process!

IMPASSE shoots this weekend!

Update #17 · Jun 26, 2012 · 1 comment

Hello fabulous backers!

We've been busy tied to our IMPASSE preproduction desks pulling together a great cast and crew for this weekend's shoot! The biggest lifesaver in the crazyland of preprod has been the addition of Annie Lower as Line Producer and Preproduction AD. We would have been lost without her incredible talents.

Tomorrow, Jeanne flies to Florida to pick up the RED Epic and drive it to Orlando for the shoot. She wrote a new Balls of Steel: Lights, Camera, Anxiety Attack that will launch on ScriptMag.com Thursday, describing what it feels like to finally bring her words off the page and to life. Watch for it here: www.scriptmag.com/author/jeannevb

Stay tuned for more updates throughout the shoot weekend, and don't forget to "like" IMPASSE on Facebook to catch behind-the-scenes pictures... like Jeanne shaving Bekemeyer's head. Oh yeah, we're doing it.

Again, we thank you for all of your support. Without you, this film wouldn't be possible. We're determined to make you proud.

Jeanne & Mike
