About this project
We are creating a compilation CD with 15 to 18 original, previously unreleased tracks to promote Fairfield, Iowa's emerging artists and support the Beauty Shop, our DIY performance venue. Be prepared to be blown away by our young musicians!

The Story: Our nonprofit, the Bonnell Building Project (BBP), was launched in Fairfield in October 2008 as a unique experiment in fostering empowered, passion-driven learning and action by the young people in our community. Music and art have become a major focus, centered around The Beauty Shop and Appleseed Studios.
- The Beauty Shop regularly hosts performances by local and touring musicians and popular art shows featuring the work of young people, and is managed by a team of young people. (For more info, watch this YouTube video.)
- Appleseed Studios is a professional digital multi-track recording studio in our building that provides opportunities for young people experience and learn all sides of the music business.
- Get more exposure for local young musicians
- Train recording engineers
- Raise money for the Beauty Shop, so that we can create more opportunities for community members to develop and share their creative talents.
To launch the CD, we have scheduled a red-carpet CD release concert for June 4 at the Fairfield’s Stephen Sondheim Center for the Performing Arts.
With the project now underway, we are convinced the CD is going to wow the listener and put the spotlight on many young musicians in our small yet vibrant town.
